Rumor has it that Chuck Crabtree has bought a house in North Carolina. Wonder if the town helped him purchase this? I hear the feds are back checking out some more of the courthouse gang. They will never be able to clean up the town until they clean up all the corruption in politics.

Grundy and Buchanan Co. Is a mess! No town. It doesn't look like there will be one again. This should be on the Fleecing of America. All that money spent. For What? All rocks and dirt, no stores, nothing across the river but a millions of dollars parking lot. I can't believe the people in this county are standing by and allowing this to happen.

When are the people of Buchanan County going to get their head out of the sand and begin to write letters and speak out against all the corruption. You can be heard-the coon dog scandal proves they will act if pressure is applied. Call anyone you know that will speak up- remember the duck that squeeks the loudest gets the grease.

About $35 million to do the development site. Another $30-40 million to buy all the structures down town that had to be torn down. A few million to do the cut at the red lights to gain a few feet for the new road alignment. Chucky making around $45,000 and James Keen around $65,000. Maybe they ought to rename the town Golden Goose, Virginia.

Yeah, Mr. Crabtree has bought a house in NC or SC and his wife has already moved. He won't be leaving until the new WalMart is built so he'll be around till 2025 or so.

You should contact Brownlee and ask him to investigate and see where all this money went.I cannot believe that all this money has been sunk in a strip across the river and I doubt very much if Walmart will come. Seeing is believing and corruption is all I have seen in this little Hamlet

I had to go thru Grundy today and I couldn't believe all the big rocks that had fallen off the mountain where you go up Slate Creek. Someone is going to get killed there. No school buses or cars should be allowed thru there. They need to make a detour somewhere. I would hate to see the same thing happen as the woman and her husband's car crushed by a big rock at Bradshaw, WV. The fence along the road has been mutilated by big rocks.

I had to go thru Grundy again today and noticed where a big rock slide occurred along the Slate Creek side again. It tore out almost all the fence there. Also, you could see big rocks on the mountain just hanging there. A neighbor told me she was held up in the traffic along time yesterday after the slide came. We all need to call V.D.O.T. about this situation. I plan to call Mon. morning.

I thought the merchants who sold out were supposed to be able to pack up one day and move the next becuase the new town would be built by the time they needed to move. I guess all that money DID move to a new town - Richlands, Lebanon, or Abingdon.

They won't build the parking building unti WalMart fully commits but why couldn't they begin building the rest of the town development? I been hearing again that WalMart is just waiting until the road project is closer to being finished and that they WILL be coming to Grundy. Do you think there's enough room for Wally World at the Plaza? Looks like thats going to be downtown Grundy for a long time.

For years I was one of the people who scoffed at those who said we would never have a Wal Mart, that they were just gonna destroy our little town. Now, several years later, as i look at the faded and broken "Wal Mart, Coming Soon" signs that our town bought. I think I just may be the one everyone is laughing at.

You see I love this little town, or should I say loved the town that used to be here. I grew up here, made my place in the community, and now have a family and a home here. But what is "here"? Nothing. The quiet little community I grew up in and loved so much is just a memory.

As I ponder the happening of the past few years I have to ask myself, "Why did this happen?". We had a great town, no we didn't have a Wal Mart but we did have at least a few retail stores and a gas station or two. Now we have a main street that looks more like a surface mine. What used to be a 5 minute trip for a gallon of milk now takes me 45. I can't even begin to articulate how I feel about the loss of a physical "town" and the occasional conversation as you met someone walking down the street.

Where is the "tourist town" we were promised, the pier restaurant, the town square??? Was it ever planned? Who dropped the ball? Should someone not be held accountable.

We all have to live with this, can we not begin to find the root of the problem so it can be fixed. I'm not sure how to begin correcting things, but I am sure of one thing; we're not getting anything done by sitting here gossiping. If our local government can't help us then let's come together as a community and attempt to get the attention of state and federal government, its worth a try, nothing else has seemed to work.

Chuck Crabtree is a joke. He needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of town after being prosecuted for corruption. The river could have been cleaned out and widened and a flood wall built and our town could have been saved. Now all we have is a big mess. Someone needs to pay.

I think a lot more citizens are becoming disgusted with the not seeing progress on the town being rebuilt and finished. I am beginning to wonder if I will live long enough to see my lifetime home have any sembalance of a community again I heard a psychologist say they thought this was causing a lot of depression among the citizens of the county.

I dont think we will get a walmart for a good while. Someone told me that the walmart signs wasnt put there by walmart but by the county. Hell we may never get a walmart here. The town is a mess right now.

b.c.s.d.

I don't see where you are missing it... Nobody is defending this kid! He did wrong and he will be convicted of what he did. However, he (or his family) will sue for the excessive force and he/they will win. All because of inept leadership and poor personnel choices! Period.

No one is saying that the kid was innocent, just that he probably had good reason to get away when the bullets started flying. If he was impaired that makes even more sense! He reacted to the heat of the moment and ran... you and I are sober (at least I am) and we are taking days to soak this information in and we respond on this forum. I proffer that the kid had two choices when the deputy started shooting. 1) stop and 2) run!!! Fight or flight. It's reasonable he chose not to fight unarmed with a cop with a gun and who is using said gun to shoot at him!

The cop messed up plain and simple and people obviously more familiar with law than you will eventually show the SO they are wrong by making them pay mucho dinero!

You seem to be missing this simple point. Let me ask you this question directly... If someone is fleeing the law in a car, regardless of why, and poses no danger to anyone; (remember the shooting happened before he got on the roadway AND the deputy didn't see him driving recklessly or breaking ANY law)is it legal to shoot at them? Answer this question and you will finally understand what we are saying.

I just thought of something...

Maybe everyone doesn't know this deputy's history of shooting things! Someone should inquire about him being investigated and polygraphed for shooting into a neighbor's house. Where did the bullet that was recovered from the neighbor's house go? It was recovered by the SO! He WAS a deputy when it happened and obviously wasn't reprimanded for it because he "lived" to shoot again.

id ANYONE hear about this? If not then maybe someone should ask the wee sheriff about the results of the investigation and why no one heard about it...

Smells like he has something to hide from you good citizens doesn't it?

Maybe you won't be so quick to defend when this deputy (or one like him) kills an innocent person. We won't be so crazy then, huh? Think about it!

Now do we know what we are talking about, boys?

How could we make this stuff up? And if ANYONE cared enough to inquire... you would hit pay dirt and know we are telling the truth about all this illegality afoot in the SO. It's damn scary if you know what I do (and you do b/c it has all been posted on this forum).

Citizens of BC had better wake up and realize that we that are posting on here are the good guys! We're begging someone to look into this because a constitutional officer is almost beyond reproach and the only way to get rid of them is for them to be convicted of a crime and these issues have to be investigated by an impartial government entity like the FBI!!!

We don't like the current Sheriff and his sidekicks, ok you got us I don't think anyone has tried to hide that; but that doesn't change the truth of the posts we have provided... They happened and there are still brain-dead mouth-breathers (like yourself) out there that defend them! Geez, I don't know who I am more scared of them or you!

Watch this forum get deleted by the morning... I'll bet mini-rif, R.ectal F.ornicator and GQ A.rse H.ole are calling Topix as you read this!

No bother, It's all being collected, filed and distributed. It will appear again! You can bet on it!
