Am I the only one who thinks school should be cancelled tomorrow or atleast delayed? The water is starting to get pretty high and I'm sure the dangers of mudslides is pretty high as well. Maybe Im just a worry wart but, I don't like the idea of my kids being out on the road in this type of weather. You would think with us being under a flood warning and the water riseing that they would put school on a two hour delay tomorrow to be on the safe side.

I feel confident that if there are concerns in the morning or later tonight a qualified decision will be made. I've had children in this system for many years and I know they would never deliberately endanger a child.

I never said they would do anything to deliberately endanger our children. However, their decision last week to have school on a 2 hour delay and it 18 degrees could have turned out very badly considering that a loaded school bus broke down and it being that cold. Thank God it broke down where it did and another bus was able to take them on to school. I'm glad you feel so confident in " The System "

If you live in Harrisonburg why are you making a comment on the situation here with the flooding?

I don't live in Harrisonburg, I live in Buchanan County. I don't know why different towns show up on our posts, but if you will notice other cities and towns show up on other peoples posts.

AMEN sister! They need to worry about the children instead of worrying about getting enough education. Yes education is important, but not when it's risking childrens lifes. But oh I'm sure they will have the kids on the bus before day light again. What would they do if a bus loaded with kids ran off the road due to a muddslide or water going across the road and went in the creek? They would NOT make it out, They should start putting the childrens safty FIRST instead of their so call "insructional hours".

Oh my goodness, someone get a gun and shoot me for my little misspelled word!!!! Better yet shoot me twice cause it must be a sin to care about my child. You obviously couldn't have children of your own and if you do God help them because, their parent is a few fries short of a happy meal. If you wanna call anyone a " dumbazz " or anything else stupid, look in the mirror and talk away moron. I hope you have a wonderful evening

I agree with most of you. any loving parent don't want their kids on a school bus with the water as high as it is. Slate Creek is running wild and God have mercy if a bus load of kids went into that water, bless their hearts their not coming out alive. Its way to dangerous for the school board to take that chance. Its not just the flood waters, its the mudslides and Iv'e heard that a couple have already taken place. God be with the children if common sense don't kick in soon and we get that call saying schools in Buchanan County will be closed tomorrow or delayed 2 hours.

I'm a parent of two, if morning comes and its too dangerous in my opinion, I won't put my children on a bus, or I will take them to school myself. But I'm sure that if it is too cold or the water is too high, there will be a call.

If you had read the complete thread you wouldn't be confused. I was responding to the post concerned put up assuming that I lived in Harrisonburg. I explained that I do live In BC.
