What do you think about people who borrow money and will not pay it back or take goods and services and never pay what they promise. People come to you begging in their time of need only to screw you for helping them when they were down and out. Its getting to the point where a persons word means nothing and good people cant afford to be taken advantage when lend a helping hand.

you have to give them the money to help them and not expect them to pay you back, that is when the gift is from the heart and not from the wallet. But i do understand it has happen to me many times but it will come back to you in good faith, maybe not from that person and maybe not in the form of money but when it happens you will know it was because you helped that person out.

Maybe the post should be, people who ask arm and legs for services/basic needs, and the poor people who can't afford it.....

if these people are getting basic services, and cant pay... what does this tell you?

it tells me one of two things... either they are blowing their money on something else

or they really cant afford what people are asking....

If you can't pay it back dont borrow it. It's an amazing principle that people have lived by for years. Live with in your means. But in this entitlement world we live in today they all expect something for nothing

Daddy always taught me not to owe no body nothing and dont buy or borrew what you cant pay for. If you take sumthing that aint yours thats stealing. You ort not lie to a mans face and make a promise and not back it up. If you do your name aint what you say it is.

You sound like a barrier to me buddy!

Maybe the title should be entitled, lazy, and untrustworthy. No body makes you buy nothing, ever, aint happened to me once yet.

what really is the test is the wording. If someone comes to you and asks to borrow money you should immediately be on the defense and simply ask. Is this a borrow or are you meaning, I need money and I cannot pay you back but your a great friend and I need your help. At least you will know whhere you stand from there

I know exactly what you mean, when I was a kid I had friends running up hundreds of dollars on their parents charge accounts around town. At that time, that was a whole lot of money!

back in the 70s there was a lot of money made in Buchanan county. If you were from some other town and just drove by the school you wouldnt believe it unless you saw it. Kids in hig school driving Porche, Corvettes, Z28, Cutlass, Beautiful fixed up older cars. If you drove a Corvette to school in the late 70s you was just another kid. If you went to Abingdon in that Corvette you realized the rest of the world did not live like this. I had no idea what it was li,e not to have anything I wanted and when I wanted it. I still know guys from those years that are living on their dads money and have never drawn a check that they worked for in their name. Grundy use to be loaded with money. In one ofmthe other posts someone asked who the King of Grundy was and someone else answered Jim McGlothlin, he brougt lots of money to Grundy and the he also made sure Buchanan County basically shut down. United owned most everything and pulled out. Left, shut down, went into business in Bristol buying other companies and never worried about Grundy again. Knox Creek was about all that was left. That is how Jack Lester made his millions. Is there any coal being mined in Buchanan County now? I have no idea.
