what businesses? last time i checked we had fast-food and a food city and hey lets put food city out of business cause its been raping the community for years! as for the fast-food and other resturants wal-mart needs those places whenever it opens so yes lets open a wal-mart. but lets not forget guys that we decided to elect such and such's cousin up the 'holler' into office cause they seemed like a good person and now we have nothing. so to answer the original question no their will never be a walmart in grundy because of chuck crabtree, im very happy he's gone now he can lie to another community for years.

People are always saying walmart will put businesses in Grundy out of business. What businesses? If I need a variety of colored sewing thread, I have to make a trip to Walmart at Richlands to get it. I'm not talking about those little packs, I mean real spools of thread.

True, Grundy has been torn to shreds as we know it, but I've not seen much to it in the 24 years I've been on this Earth. I remember very few businesses actually being open in Grundy. To say that Wal-Mart is going to destroy the other businesses in this town, I have to say is false. Wal-Mart isn't here and yet this town has been decaying around us for many years. I think Wal-Mart being here will help us more than hurt us. I have only recently married and although I shop at Food City occasionally, I prefer to go to Wal-Mart because I can get a lot more stuff for less money. With gas prices going up, I am glad that in a short time we will be getting one. I believe we will get one because on the Wal-Mart website, it actually lists Grundy as a location and says that it will be coming soon. If they weren't serious about putting one here, I doubt Wal-Mart would have put that on their website.

I've lived in grundy for 28 of my 60 years on this earth. Walmart is the anwser to all of Grundy's problems economaly speaking. more business will move in after they get open, look at all the other Walmart stores. they are surrounded by fast food and nice resturants and other stores. wake up grundy its time we got this thing on the road. as far as local businesses going out, there are none. grundy has lost all the good businesses before they distroyed town. come on walmart we need your store more than ever if this town is going to servive. right now is the time. i don't shop food city ever. they have raped this town for years and as lone as you dumbass's keep shopping there they will contenue to rape you of your hard earned dollar. i too, go to save a lot or to pikeville or richlands to buy groceries. and will contenue to do so until i die, if walmart doesn't come to grundy. there is a nice grocery store in hurley, i've been told about, not been there, but hear the prices are better than food city. DO YOU HEAR THAT GRUNDY. WAKE UP GRUNDY THERE WILL BE BETTER DAYS IF WE STAAND TOGATHER!!!!!

Yeah, and they have a dollar store, carquest, beauty shop, restaurant, post office, park, lumber store, pharmacy and bank. Looks like everybody will have to go to Hurley to shop. And they are getting a clinic. Looks like it's a bigger town than Grundy now.

We need the big 4 lane road first. They say they have big big trucks. Personally I like Food City and don't care if it is Walmart or KMart or just a Mart. anything would be nice...

They always wanted their own town, sooo hopefully they have it. I will never travel to the drug ridden "town" of Hurley to shop. Of course this is a free country...And this is just my opinion...

I think what is missing is the the sense of community. Will that return with the opening of a walmart? I hate walmart but I beleive anything is better than nothing.
