Lacie Moore Shot at Eagels Club in Haysi in 1981

[Daugher of man shot 1981]

This is one of Lacie Vernon Moore's daughter, I am grown up now, I was eight at the time of his death, can anyone tell me anything that they may know about his life, or death? Thanks for any information I can get....He was married to Phillis when he got shot at the eagles club, in Haysi, Va no one was found guilty of his murder.

Thats correct I ask my mom, Jerry is the son that was there. Frank the father was there to, and he is deceased. I would just like to get answers. Thank you so much for your help. There is a woman who lives on Harman, Convict Holler to be exact. Her name is Mary Jean Deel. Her family lives in the head of that Holler. Her ex-husband, Russell Sykes was there that night and sitting at the table with them. Rink Goff, from Harman also got shot that night. His wife is named Brenda. I do not know if Rink is still living. There is a good place to get the answers you need.

My understanding of what happened was a fight broke out between Mr. Moore and Jerry Thacker. Frank Thacker shot Mr. Moore. I remember when this happened because I went to the Eagle's Club to pick up someone and he told me someone got shot there that night. Most of the people there that night felt like this crime (which it was) should never have happened. No one should have gotten shot over just a fight. I assume that Frank got off using the excuse that he was protecting his establishment. My sister may know more information . I will ask her sooon.

By the way, the younger Thacker (former law officer) is a very good man. Terry Thacker is also a pretty good person. So all the apples in the barrel were not rotten, just the two were rotten to the core.

I understood that Lacie Moore was shot because the guy thought he was there with a certain woman. It wasn't Lacie but another guy at the table.

Thank you and may God bless all of you for coming forward, in what you know about my dad, I miss him so much. I just had a granddaughter last night my first grand child,Kendra Elizabeth. My dad was only 33 years old with four kids, and he has missed out so much, and we all have missed out on our father. My dad was not perfect or a saint I remember the night they left to go to the eagals club I begged him not to go, that I wanted him to stay with us, he didnt want to go but Phillis pushed it until she got him to go. Then that night I remember her and three men was in the house and my sister that was thirteen at the time the oldest told me that daddy had been shot and we had to go to the hospital, Phillis and the three guys was getting all kinds of my dads stuff and we left and went to the hospital and had to stay in the car, Phillis would not let us go in she came out and said he died in surgery.Thats really all we got to know about anything. Thanks for what you all have told me, and just talking to me has helped me. I really wish whoever shot him would have thought about his kids before they pulled the trigger. I still have my mom but nothing changes the fact that I lost my father at only eight years old.

I hope that I find the answers that I am trying to find, and with the help of all of you and others out there that know what happened, maybe at least I can find some kind of piece. I know God is on my side. I love my dad and miss him so much, it's sad no one was charged in his death, and I had to grow up without a dad since I was eight years old. I never had a dad to be there to walk me down the isle, to see his grand children. I know that who ever done this to my dad had to be cold, but I do hope they can get forgiveness, I don't know the killer could even be reading what I am writing and if you are you can reply I would like some answers that's all I'm asking for why my dad. Lacie Vernon Moore. He was not perfect but he was my dad, and I loved him dearly.

Go to the Dickenson County Courthouse and ask about reopening the case.
