OK. I have located two. I also was told that Fairfax doesn't allow self-service car washes because they pollute the Potomac, or something to that effect.
I have found two gas stations that have self-service facilities. One is a BP station on Four Mile Road near Shirlington, and the other is down Route 1 before the Fairfax County Parkway near Ft. Belvoir. Both have two jet hose bays/spaces.

Moved from Woodbridge last year and this is ridiculous to hardly have any self service car washes up here. Stafford, Fredericksburg areas has nice self service car washes! And the Potomac River is near those areas as well. They don't have any stipulations about pollutants entering the river. NOVA is just ridiculous, shopping sucks too!

Rami,
I also live in McLean and am looking for a self-serve car wash facility. Did you get the address for the place in dunn loring/vienna? Thank you.

Do you have the name of or a more precise location/address for the gas station with a self-service car wash on Rt. 1 before the Fairfax County Parkway near Ft. Belvoir?

Personally visited Gas and Go, 9180 Richmond Hwy, Ft Belvoir (200 yds north of Rt 1/Fairfax Parkway intersection) today, also, the locations cited near Shirlington. The latter is strictly out of hunger, a stand-alone sprayer, as it were, just tucked into a corner of a gas station lot. There's a similar sprayer at Rt 50 and Patrick Henry Drive at Seven Corners; the charge there is an incredible $5. Since you can get an automated wash for $7 just about anywhere (Rt 7 and Castle Rd, also in 7 Corners), this sprayer appeared to be so pathetic I wasn't going to waste $5 on it.

Sorry, meant to mention, the Gas and Go near Ft Belvoir is...um....ok. It's $3 and, while it 'seemed' to be fully pressurized, it didn't clean very well (possibly the soap? While it says "no bucket washing" I'll take one next time, I don't think they'll notice). Actually, the machine cut off after 2 minutes; it took 10 more minutes to restore the power and finish the wash. I actually got 5 minutes of washing from it, still, didn't get all the grime. There are two bays, one indoors, one out. The indoor one is cramped (formerly, a repair bay, it would seem), so go for the outdoor one if possible. Bottom line, a ximpld bucket would be highly preferable to this location.

Glory halleluiah, I have found a self-service car wash not a mile from Bailey's X Roads (the Shell/food stop, on Leesburg Pike near Carlin Springs Rd). Two roomy bays, under cover but not enclosed. Ice prevented me from actually trying it out, but, sheesh, what a sight for sore eyes, after looking for such for A FULL YEAR here.

BTW there are "self-service car washes" around, one on Rte 50 and Patrick Henry Drive, also at the BP station on Four Mile Run. These are truly wretched wannabes: they charge $5 and the equipment is beneath all contempt, much worse than 25 cents used to buy you, actually.

Bottom line, a simple bucket would be highly preferable to this location.

A year ago, I posted the street address of the "only" self-serve car wash I have found in Alexandria (in 18 months of looking!) Read up on my recent posts.

Just came back from Bailey's. There is no self-service car wash at the Shell on Leesburg Pike & Carlin Springs. There are two coin-op vacuum cleaners for your interior, but no car wash.

Yes, there's a Shell right at Carlin Springs, however, the Shell with the car washes (two, actually) is actually at Magnolia St and Leesburg Pike, about 1/2 mile west of Carlin Springs and Leesburg Pike. You get five minutes for $3 (which you must supply in quarters only). Three settings: foaming brush, soap, and rinse. All too often, one (or even both) bays are blocked off (guessing they break down a lot).

I live in Alexandria, and have searched for self serve since moving here in FEB2013.

So far, I have found one - in Oxon (MD) across the Woodrow Wilson bridge, about 15 minutes away, call Sam's Car Wash (they have a web site too). It has 6x bays and is pretty nice setup.

The down side is that it is in the ghetto; if you are white, you will feel VERY uncomfortable. I would not go there after dark, but on SUN late afternoon it wasn't too crowded.
