This is a bad time for prices to spike like this, but maybe this time around, our society will make a serious effort to change our driving habits.

Time to get the bicycle out, pump up the tires, etc, and park the SUV.

We need all forms of transportation , we as a state and nation will not be able compete in our country, if we dont start building our country up with powerful infrastructure of passenger trains!

Isn't it ironic that the only promise Obama is keeping is to get gas prices to $5 a gallon. All you union members who support him and the other liberal dems that want to drive up prices to wean us off fossil fuels have yourself to thank for the high gas prices.

Call Ohio leaders and ask them why we are so limited to just walking , bicycle or a bus for alternative transportation, also how can Ohio support an economy on just this limited types of transportation? Tell Ohio leaders to start building this state up with a powerful infraustructure of passenger trains!

How long does it take a person to move to Texas. Keep waiting and you will be driving across country at $5 a gallon.

Exxon had a 5 billion dollar profit the first quarter. What's wrong with this picture?
People tell me that it's more costly in europe and other foreign countries and to them I say I don't care.

Gas prices were at just over $1/gallon before George Bush started his "war on terror" since then they have steadily risen. The even reach just over $4/gallon at the end of his presidency. It isn't Obama's fault.

As a Christian, a conservative and a Republican I decry those would manipulate the free market by exacting price controls. From economics 101 - a producer should, and indeed must, charge as much as the market will bear. Profits are thus extracted. Any attempt by socialists to artificially lower the price of cost will cause producers to stop producing, thus creating shortages, a black market and much higher prices. As explained in the Holy Bible, government must not insert its vile hand in the FREE MARKET. Thank you.

We live in a FREE MARKET, FREE ENTERPRISE nation. Profits are not only welcomed - they should be maximized. After all, who owns Exxon stock? Pension funds, of course. The profits exacted for the extraction of crude and refinement into automotive spirits come right back to the American people in their 401-K, pension plans & etc. Do not decry the Capitalist system, oh foolish socialist.

Gas is higher now, with a barrel of oil @$112-3, than 2 years ago when a barrel of oil was $147. Can anyone please explain this?

I know all people can not, but I personally ride the bus to work, along with many other city, state and goverment workers. I have been doing so for four years. This is easy on my pocket, and my connections are great. Of course one can not bus it everywhere, but if you can, try it.

When prices spiked under GWB, Obama and the Dems and thier lapdogs in the press skewered him as an Oil man responsible for those high prices. Obama even held a press conference at a gas station showing gas in the 2 dollar range to highlight his concern. Then GWB and the GOP in Congress opened up drilling and viola the price dropped. It was 1.86 when Obama took office and he has cut off drilling in the Gulf, most off shore areas and now just last week the EPA shut down Shell in the Artic. Yet the Lapdogs in the press aren't blaming him, they are providing excuses for him. He is on record as saying we needed $5 gas to help "transform" the country into one dependent on Govt to see to it's needs. Like providing transportation from high density living areas to high density working areas. Yet, unlike Europe, the USA is not built in that fashion. Take Columbus, when most companies were in big high rises downtown, yes, trains would have made sense. But now that most jobs are located around 270 on the north side, how would you route trains to service all those areas? While it would be cute and nice to have a local train service, the fact is we don't have the jobs or housing set up to support it. All development downtown has been to bring in condos and more housing, not bring more jobs downtown. Office and shopping buildings have been torn down or converted meaning trains to downtown would have less people, not more.
