Rule number one: It's NOT free. It may be at no specific charge but it is NOT free.

While I applaud Columbus waste disposal for picking up our trees we pay for this service with our taxes. It would be much more accurate if you would state that their is no additional charge for picking up Christmas trees rather than say it is free.

I really wish people would understand that anything that the government does is NEVER free. We all pay for those services.

Yeah, it's not free. Had it been free, they would have done it last year, but it was cut along with all other yard waste. Why come out with an article every week saying "Hey, we'll pick up your yard waste fro free!"
Glad our income taxes went up for this service. Although I kept my tree in the back yard from last year and put it out when they resoumed the service last spring or whenever it was.

Excellent point
It could be free if some landscaper decided to pick up the trees and turn into mulch for use in spring
His point is right on

OH. MY. GOD.

Something as simple as "the city will pick up your Christmas tree" brings out the government bashers, who hate any service SO MUCH that even Christmas trees make them angry.

Folks -- look -- if you want to live somewhere where there are no taxes and no services, MOVE TO SOMALIA. I hear it's lovely there this time of year. Flak jackets come in many beautiful colors and designs.

The rest of us are PERFECTLY HAPPY to live in an actual society with actual government that provides something to its citizens in exchange for taxes they pay. If you do not wish to live in such a society, then by all means,

MOVE AWAY.

But for goodness sake stop complaining like 3-year olds. You made a CHOICE to live here, where there are TAXES that pay for SERVICES.

Don't like it?

Buh-bye.

If a person leaches off the system, they do Not pay taxes. The working people do.If you talk about the taxes that are paid when they purchase things, ect. ect., it's still paid by the working taxpayer who they got their check from.

FREE? Really? I assume Fire and Police protection are also "FREE" this year. You raised my income taxes to pay for these services, I am not saying I am against the service, but please stop calling things free. Instead, why don't you say it is a gift to all residents from those of use who actually pay income taxes and property taxes.

Sounds like you might actually have a job. That just, like, totally sucks for you, dude. Hope you don't need an ambulance or anything anytime soon. Or a road to drive on. Or water.

No it's not FREE nothing is FREE! Let's get the "Story" straight! Second those of you who don't live here because you had to move OUT of Columbus are part of the problem not part of the solution. Bailing out is not the answer, so either move back into Columbus and help those of us that live, work and pay property taxes here get Clownman and his cast of fools out of here and get the city back on track. Or shut the freak up!!!!
