He made a mistake. Have some compassion! This boy could have lost his life but is now lying in a hospital bed after surgery to repair a badly crushed leg, multiple broken bones and a severe concussion and now has an extremely long recovery ahead of him. Just for the record, he is neither a clown nor an idiot and NOBODY is more sorry than he is. He has a wonderful family and very involved parents and right now they are devastated as any parent would be. I will be praying for him and I encourage you to as well.
I vote "clown" as well. His selfish behavior could have killed people not driving like he was. I am sick of treating teenagers like they are infants. I hope they pull his license for 20 years. There are enough idiots and clowns on the road. I have compassion...for drivers who obey the laws and innocent pedestrians. I feel bad for the tree.

I am sick of Massachusetts drivers speeding around like raped apes. I would support all speeding fines being tripled. Whatever it takes to slow people down.

It is an old, back road, about 18 feet across on a hill, obstucted views, windy road, sharp curve all bordered by stone walls. If he knew of this back road to Groton he has traveled it before. Children cannot walk on this street, joggers take their lives in hand. Trucks, cars, motorcycles, school kids, 5 pm commuters ALL DRIVE TOO FAST.

Give me a break. Pull his license for 20 years! I don't know about you, but I can recall more than a few instances growing up as a teenage in the 70's, driving like a complete idiot. When I look back, I along with many other kids in high school drove like complete morons.

I suppose you were the exception in high school who never did anythin wrong behind the wheel. Never had one too many drinks before getting behind the wheel in high school, or college. I suppose your one of the lucky ones who has never run a red light or stop sign.

I am not making excuses for this kid. I agree too many teenagers are completely irresponsible behind the wheel. But then again, so are many adults. That fact is that some people make smart choices and some dont.

Seeing as not a single one of you actually know him as a person you should all shut the fuck up and learn who you're talking about before you judge him.

The kid would be a valid contendant for a spot as an undergrad in Harvard, and he is more responsible of a kid then any of you were or are.

Get better Gabe. Love you bro.

Has young man been identified? Hope that he makes a full recovery. Am thankful that no one else involved, ie passengers or another car. Prayers and thoughts with this family. Unfortunately this happens all too often....everyone in a rush to get nowhere!!! Everyone....SLOW DOWN!

He has been identified. He's a good friend of mine, not sure they'd want it publicized though so I won't until I can talk to him.

I agree - all the complainers did the same thing when they were teenagers - now they won't admit it. Just like when they drive slowly thru their own neighborhoods but when they get around the corner they boot it. I think it is call being a hypocrite.

Ah, too many people with nothing to do. You all make assumptions, then give your expert opinions based on those assumptions. Why wait for the facts when you can show your ignorance now? Well, you know what they say, "opinions are like a** holes, everybody has one."

I agree, lets have a little compassion. Yes, the kid did make a bad decision, and speeding is definately not okay but to call him a clown or an idiot it just plain wrong and very insensitive. Im guessing you think you were a perfect teen and never did anything wrong? If you have children God help them if they ever use poor judgement. Oh by the way..........Happy Holidays!
