Residents on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted down a Proposition 2 1/2 override that was proposed to close a $416,728 deficit in the town's budget.
Because of the nature of the agreement between the towns in NMRS this vote was really about eliminating cuts in town services.
Because this failed, Townsend is almost guaranteed to have pay-as-you-throw trash fees in the near future.
