convert a 126 year old church into a fire station? Tear/burn it down and build a new fire station.

Yeah, that makes sense. Then you are out the 700,000 cost of the building, PLUS the construction costs of a new station. Let's try and SAVE money for once. If the building is in good condition, then I say convert it! Area towns are too quick to build 'bigger and better' instead of looking at resources they already have.
