If the schools were suddenly great and police/fire/EMS would respond in three minutes, why would any working individual think of moving to Detroit? The car insurance is double or triple. Property taxes are exorbitant. Home insurance, if available, can cost thousands. There is an income tax. Trash is picked up once a month or less. Parking tickets are issued sometimes when there is plenty of time on the meter. A call to city offices gives a busy signal or holds the call until you quit. Etc.,etc.,etc.
"Honey, do I look fat in this dress?" Yes, you are fat.
"If I pretend all is well in the city, would you move there?" No, it still sucks.
