This thing was poorly planned. Wayne County is to blame for this mess. According to reports, the bridge bidding was done too late. Why was the new bridge not partially assembled and on site? Where were the Wayne county sheriffs when the bridge close ? This forced the Trenton and Riverview police to use all their manpower to attempt to control the problem. Did Facano anticipate this mess or did he just ignore it? I read where the first weeks would be a learning process---The Grosse Ile Bridge has closed numerous times. There is absolutely no excuss for the County administration to let this mess occur. A typical bureaucratic blunder where know one cares and no one is in charge or held accountable.

Ohh...it sounds like Mr Wayne County is a little jealous of us big spenders on Grosse Ile. Well, listen up loser, the county bridge will reopen and things will return to normal in paradise...but you will still be stuck in that stink hole they call Detroit.

Paul Smoke's fault, that statement is down right stupid. He is a business man allowing the people to use his bridge for a fee. That my friend is the American way. And let's not forget THEY LIVE ON AN ISLAND, IT IS GOING TO BE INCONVIENANT. If I were Smoke I would take advantage of the demand for my bridge and double the fee (supply & demand). Capitalism at its finest. Grosse Ile is the downriver Belle Ile.

I am all about the American way but when asked if he could handle it, he said "yes." It is obvious it was more than he anticipated. And fellow Islanders, just pay the damn toll. By giving 60 nickels to the toll people, you are causing the holdup to go on even longer. Please don't do that. I want to go home too.

I have an idea. Why doesn't Grosse Ile Township pass a bond and build there own bridge so this doesn't happen again. Come on, pony up that money. In the mean time you need to start kissing Smoke's butt because if not, he might just shut the pay bridge down all together. The coalition to begin school of choice in Grosse Ile is in full effect.

I think the bridge situation is being managed
as well as can be expected. The commute delays
are usually 5 minutes or less. My only complaint
is that the Bridge company did not stock up on
bridge passes to meet the demands. Nevertheless,
it is going to be a long summer.
