My wife and I recently moved to the Grimes area and love dining out and trying new places. We had been referred to The Radish so we decided to give it a try. The first five times we went were during the week and we had good meals, decent service, etc.
The last time we went was on a Friday night. We walked in at 5:50 pm where we were greeted at the door by the owner. We gave him our name and were told it would be 10 minutes until we would be seated. There was nobody else waiting at the time so this seemed to be ok. Shortly after a group of 4 people in their 70s walked in without reservations. After 15 minutes or so they were seated while we continued to wait patiently. Next a group of 5 people came in without reservations and were seated in approximately 20 minutes while we had now waited 45 minutes. On a couple of occasions the owner came over to us to tell us it would be 5 minutes. After waiting 50 minutes and seeing two groups come in after us and get seated before us without reservations I approached the owner to tell him someone else could have our table. I also told him I didn't agree with his handling of the seating list. He told me the other two groups had reservations. This was a blatant lie as we had talked to the groups while they waited with us.
I would have been ok if he would have told us that he seats people based on age, size of party, etc. However he didn't tell us this and proceeded to lie to me as I approached him before leaving his place of business.
I am very disappointed to mark The Radish off of my list of places to eat as Grimes could really use a good dining venue.
Unfortunately, The Radish will never be a destination for us or the many others we enjoy going out with.

The Radish has been an excellent place for my girl friend and I to visit and will continue to eat there for as long as it is open. They have amazing food and a pleasant staff. I am very pleased that I don't have to travel to the city for amazing food. If you plan on going on the weekend, better make a reservation, especially for the prime rib. I took my family there for prime rib and my brother-in-law still raves about it. Enjoy!
