let the people who ride it pay for it. We are already paying for one LOSER RAIL LINE--MARTA.Its a free ride for the welfare and food stamp crowd. They pay NOTHING to ride and the tax payers pick up the bill.

The people who ride it will pay for it. Just like the people who use cars pay for their roads....

Oh, wait a sec. The roads are paid for out of federal and state taxes.

Oh, and your gas is also heavily subsidized to pay for the ethanol in it.

Oh, and OPEC gets a big slice of your gas money.

Hummmmmmmm....maybe we should really take a look at what the TIA has in it and what the overall goal of this effort is supposed to be.

You do know that 45% of the TIA is still going to roadway improvements and expansions, don't you?

You of course also know that money collected via the TIA is spent in the county it is collected in (at least mostly - it's based on a convoluted formula tied to miles of existing transportation infrastructure).

this would make a wonnderful way for the thugs in atlanta to catch a train, go down to macon, rob a few banks, break in a few houses, then climb back on the train and ride back into town unnoticed

Yeah, you're right. I'm always seeing thugs on Marta in ski masks carrying flat screen TVs. <sarcasm>

Seems this kind of thing would be easier with a car and some good, fast roads so they can get lost in traffic and escape.
