Not that there really is a good reason to throw out recyclables... however, Georgia makes it incredibly difficult, and even costly, to recycle. Many states have incentives, such as five cents on every aluminum can, or free pickup, to encourage the practice. For me to recycle - which I do - I have to drive ten miles and spend about an hour of my time.

The state needs to do something to promote recycling. In many areas, people have to PAY to recycle. This is just absolutely absurd.
Very pro recycling

I'm glad to hear someone outside of Griffin-Spalding County is willing to put forth an effort to recycle. FYI for others, figures show that the landfill part of the trash generated by Griffin was cut in half by the mandatory recycling. I personally have TWO recycling bins now, because at least one week a month I fill up both. The trash can that used to just barely be big enough for twice a week pick up now is only about half full for the weekly pickup, since most everything goes into the recycling bin. It give me no end of pleasure to toss in junk mail, catalogs and newspaper inserts. I did buy a baby bottle brush to use to wash out cans, and with two dogs and a cat I do have quite a few.
