This is unbelievable. They re-routed traffic off Orchard and there were numerous accidents due to this. Can't wait to hear the statement this afternoon from the ambulance company.

Because she was receiving medical care it would probably be a HIPPA violation. Then again I think that expires when the patient does but, I'm not sure.

Like a whole lot of information 6 hours later! Did they have the news conference or not? Last time I heard you are strap to the gurney to prevent you from rolling off it. I smell law suit!

She must have had a mental condition or been high on drugs to jump like that. Or perhaps she was suicidal (guess that would fall under mental conditions). I'll be curious to learn more about this story and why she jumped. It was definitely a stupid thing to do.

My husband witnessed this accident, but was hauling a trailer at the time and could not stop. He did see that others were already stopping. Does anyone know if a witness is needed to make a statement?

Tina - your husband should call the GVPD and let them know he saw it, then if they want his statement, he can go in and give it.

Pretty sure there aren't "locks" on the doors of an ambulance, because if the ambulance was in an accident, they couldn't get the people out of the back (as one reason).

As for being strapped to the gurney... well, a relative of mine got meningitis. He was in a very catatonic like state, although he could tell there were tubes and IVs and all the good stuff. He couldn't recognize any of us, couldn't talk - but he'd pull those tubes out with ease. The doctors tried strapping him to the bed, and wouldn't you know it - when a person doesn't want to be retrained, they can find interesting ways to get out of restraints. The joke was that we'd need to get handcuffs because typical medical restraints just couldn't hold up to him.

There's only one person that knows why she did it, and unfortunately, that person is now dead.

No news conference. I think they are keeping it on the down low.

I love how the article says "Police have determined a woman who JUMPED out of an ambulance on I-25 Sunday JUMPED ON HER OWN ACCORD." How else can you jump out of an ambulance? I'm pretty sure jumping out of an ambulance doesn't happen on accident.

I wonder what she was being transported for in the first place. Perhaps she had tried to kill herself and jumping out of the ambulance was her final attempt. We just don't know until they give us more details.

You people are awful to say such things. I knew the woman personally and I can tell you that she was no "dummy" she had 2 degrees and was one of the most doting mothers and wife I have known.

Many people suffer from mental illness and you would never know as long as it was under control. I don't know why she ended her life the way she did. But I do while she was on this earth she was kind and caring and my prayers are with her husband and 3 children.

P.S. How many of you have heard if you can't say something nice than say nothing at all.

I don't know any more than you do about the tragic ending to her life. I do know she had many friends and family in this area. She was a woman of great faith and was loved by many.
She had to be in a great deal of pain and suffering greatly to take her own life. I only found out about this last night and it rocked me to my core.
She was a true Texan with a sweet southern accent. Her family had recently moved to the Denver area for her husbands job.
I am sorry she felt that ending her life was the only way to end her suffering. This is truly a tragic ending for this family.
