I was researching the Madman at VT and I came to find out that as early as eighth grade, he wrote a paper for school about wanting to "Repeat Columbine". I'm not sure how he exactly got off of that one, but I'm sure when he got into VT they didn't know about that incident. And I saw some of his manifesto where he mentions "Martyrs like Eric and Dylan". There's not a doubt in my mind that he felt sympathy for those two boys, and wanted to do what they did himself.

I also read somewheres that he was really obsessed with the massacre right when he was in eighth grade.

What, so do you think he researched them before he went on his massacre?

Probably. He was pretty smart, and anyone that has that level of respect for two people probably did their homework on them. Surprised he didn't do it in high school, to be honest. Obviously, like many other mistreated people, he probably felt a connection with them.
