As usual, the disgruntled, racist writers of these types of letters always seem to remain anonymous. Why is that you may ask. Go figure. Sir/Madame, personal finance management or mismanagement doesn't make a mayor of a city. It's what that person has in store for that city's well-being. Yopu people make me sick with all of this crying and complaining you always do when things don't go your wayt. For all you know, she may be the best thing that's ever happened to Greenwood. I bet you didn't hear about the news of Mr. Smith ordering the Greenwood police department to cease with a roadblock to check for license and insurance in North Greenwood. Well if you didn't, hear is the story.
During the July 4th holiday, Police chief Henry Harris ran the routine roadblocks to check for license, registration and insurance. There was something different with this check than others. Instead of just checking in the so-called hotspots of the town, he also ordered the officers to set up spots in North Greenwood. Mr. Smith was alledgedly called by a N. Greenwood resident and informed of what was going on. He then personally went to those spots and ordered the police to stop the process. Now I ask you, do we REALLY need a mayor who performs such actions? NO! The days of racial preferences are finally over and if you just really can't accept that, then do what the others may be planning, move to Carroll County. We will be more than willing to move into your vacant homes. After all, some of us actually want to live in nice neighborhoods such as those in N.G.

Congrats Mayor Perkins, I pray this doesn't turn into a race battle, we've had too many of those already. All whites are not bad, please do the right thing and bring peace to my former city. God Bless...,

I was a police officer in this city 12 years ago, and I believe every bit of this. It was difficult to work in North Greenwood, because if you did your job, you killed yourself politically, and without any political backers, you were doomed to be a patrolman forever, or run out of town.
