Was the earlier attempted abduction in the paper? Might have been nice to know. It's kind of aggravating when the cops only put out a release when they capture the guy, but keep it a secret when he's still at large.

The only place I saw it was on WTHR.com . I don't get the paper so I don't know. Living in Greenwood near Meijer I was apprehensive. It is so scary to know that it happened so close to home but we are naive to think it cannot happen. I am always aware of my surroundings and I have been since the murder of Kelly Eckhart in Franklin a few years ago. Her murder made my "it can't happen here" mentality waiver. It is a sad world we live in when we can't go to the store, walk down the street or let the kids play and ride bikes without the fear that some freak will kidnap, rape or murder. I really don't know what to think anymore......

This guy no doubt was waiting for another vulnerable person 'to grab' when they weren't paying attention to their surrroundings......and he likes Meijers grocery stores it seems. It's a good thing they caught this jerk....It's hard telling if he has already kidnapped and killed before. I shop at both of those Meijers locations and I have personally had an experience when two guys approached me and asked for my phone number....I said no thank-you ,in a nice way and I noticed driving home they were following me and did so all the way to my apartment complex. Since I saw them I made sure to not park in front of my apartment until I was sure they were out of the area. You always should be aware of your surroundings when out shopping etc......There are alot of preditory types who are just waiting for their 'perfect opportunity' to do their 'dirty deeds'.....

Thank goodness someone was paying attention and this insect was caught before his behavior escalated!

The attempted abduction was reported in The Star a day or so ago.

I wish more people would wake-up from their "it can't happen here" mentality. Information from a deputy neighbor keeps me alert as to the attempted purse snatchings at Kroger (County Line Rd./Emerson), Wal-Mart (County Line/Emerson) as well as stores in the northside neighborhood where I work. The majority have taken place in broad daylight. When you get your groceries to your cars, ladies, put your purse inside first before you load the bags in the cars. They are driving by, reaching out of windows and grabbing purses left in carts. Stores such as the Meijer, Kroger and Wal-Mart stores with their 'easy on/easy off' access to the interstate make them prime locations. Oh, for those of you who didn't know, there have been crack dealers arrested in the parking lot of the aforementioned Wal-Mart in the past - late afternoon on a Saturday! Be aware of your surroundings, don't be a victim!

you know, I was at Meijer in Greenwood on Saturday morning and I stepped away from my cart a couple steps to get an onion or something and I noticed a guy nearby that seemed like he was eyeing my purse, which was in my cart. I saw him and he moved on but I really thought he would have taken it if I hadn't noticed him. I wish I would have seen where he slinked off to in order to make sure he did not get someone else!

This is a good idea ladies, when shopping, use the child restraint around the straps on your purses. Makes it very difficult for anyone to snatch and run.

Although my friend, who was the Greenwood victim was very much aware of her surroundings, it didn't matter. The robber drove right up behind her as she was closing her hatchback, jumped from his car, and grabbed her that fast. By the time she turned her head to look at him, it was too late. Thankfully her screams and kicking drew the attention of others and she got away.

This is a sad reality that even 'paying attention' is not good enough to prevent you from being attacked by a 'determined preditor'....and I'm so relieved this friend of yours escaped from this 'creep'.....Victims are NEVER to blame for the 'acts of criminals' and give your friend my best wishes because even though she 'escaped' she has been traumatized. Like I said in a previous comment ,I've had 'close calls' myself and some much scarier than the one I mentioned in my earlier comment.

The better course of action here is to drive straight to the police station. Try to get as good of a description as you can to give to the officer when you get there. It's good to have this behavior on record in case they do get caught doing something.

Sad -- but we need a lot of cameras, all over. Good cameras, too. Not the grainy pictures or videos.

People only do these things when they think they won't be spotted.

If we had a lot of cameras, these criminals might not get started in this way of life.

can anybody see find his name or picture. I was at a meijer parking lot in fort wayne recently and there was a white male blonde hair kind of stocky I noticed him in the parking lot when I pulled up. I sat there for a hour waiting for my shift to start in the far back parking lot and he approached my car. he started putting fake money in my car telling me it was nice my doors was locked but my windows were down anything he could do to get his hands in my car. Then he started putting his hands in his pockets so much I was scared to reach for the door incase he had a gun. so I did it slowly, reach for the door, with to see his hands again then open it and once I got it cracked I asked him why he was so close to my car and he froze he didn't have a answer The he looked past me, looked at me and said that's a dumb question I am a customer that's why then walked off and drove away. I looked to my left because he had came up to my passenger window to my right. and I could see two women getting into their car a couple spaces down. That is what he was looking at when he was looking past me. When I asked him why he was so close to my car and he didn't have a answer he probably would have acted then and tried to force his way in my car but he noticed the two women getting into theirs while I was getting out of mine cursing at him pretty loud as to why he was so close to my car. I'm glad I knew when to go for my car and started the scene when I did but I am thankful those people were getting into their car because it might have saved my life. I tried to tell meijer about it they never called me back they did not report it to police nothing. I would like to know who the greenwood person is so I can help others and stop this person
