What ever happened to the wrongful termination lawsuit Steve filed against the mayor? Has anyone heard if the city settled or was it dismissed?

I think it is supposed to come up after the first of the year.

Was there something wrong with me asking the question? I just remember it being addressed in a council meeting and never heard anything after that. Since it involves my tax money, I think I'm entitled to at least ask. Thanks for the information Tate.

Stall? The ignorant asshole has no lawsuit. He was employed AT WILL in an AT WILL state. His incompetent ass was fired for making horrendous mistakes when preparing a budget. He and you can cry all you want, but that doesn't change the facts or the truth. He doesn't have a leg to stand on.....

I do believe you are grossly misinformed about this. I also believe the mayor is just about to have his stress level jacked up to new levels in the near future. His ranting about people "wasting" money in the city government is about to bit him in the butt. He'll have to face the citizens of Greenwood and explain why he wasted hundreds of thousands of their dollars.

The best way to kill a thread is to have him comment. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad but he can't see every time he posts something he shows what an idiot he is. When someone calls him on sometime he changes the subject or starts with the garbage coming out of him mouth.
I wonder what he will say when the city settles once again for the stupid mistakes from the mayor's office. But then again who cares?

I sure do hope the city does not settle, this is one they can win! Is Newcomb for or against this firing?

Who cares if he is for or against it.
It was not illegal to fire him, it was illegal to harass him to try and get him to quit. He had a handicap and medical issues. That is what is going to cost the city. I just hope that part of the settlement is not to seal the records. People need to know what he went through and when he was lied to about his job.

I agree. "Concerned" needs to visit an trial attorney and get a better feel for the situation Gabbard got us in. The mayor has a weak case at best. The council tried to help him when they hired Steve back, but he was determined to get rid of him and jumped right back into a bad decision. It is a shame the city taxpayers are going to have to pay (again) for a dumb mayor's mistakes.

His handicap was that he couldn't do his fucking job. He underestimated THE BUDGET BY thousands OF DOLLARS and was fired because he almost threw the entire town into bankruptcy. I hope his dumb ass does take this to court. It'll just be another black mark on The Tabloid King and the fire dog council.

I don't think it is going to court. I believe the people involved believe the mayor was just being vindictive. And we were never near bankruptcy. The money that we are about to spend could have gone a long way toward funding a new police station. I'm concerned that the citizens have lost faith in this mayor when it concerns money matters. They have not seen their trash bill reduced as promised and now they are pissing away hundreds of thousands of dollars because he can't control his temper.

he doesn't have a handicap. Unless being unqualified counts. He was fired legally.
