If this happened in Bennington?...the driver would be charged with negligent homicide, unless it was a cop driving, then they would be able to claim the pedestrian at fault, but us normal folks, we'd be hit with a felony charge. only cops can get away with hitting a pedestrian. Hitting some freak that insists on making their own walking rules, is my biggest fear...people that are forced to walk in life, usually have an attitude of "go ahead, run me over so i can sue" hence the j walking factor. yeah you can sue for millions of dollars, but you STILL can't drive. lol

Your assumptions about Bennington area cops getting away with this too are based in what facts? When did a local cop hit and kill someone and get away with it? Sounds to me like the full investigation showed that the cop wasn't speeding and that the guy walked out in traffic in an area where no cross walk was in place.
As for you getting charged with negligent operation if it was you, then I guess you have a guilty conscience or something. If someone did something illegal then they get in trouble, if they didn't then they dont.
I just hate how some people have to chime in and always accuse police corruption and that the world is bending over backwards to help cops get out of things without any factual information.
