MY DREADFUL EXPERINCE VOLUNTEERING & why I wont volunteer again

I have done a lot of volunteer work in my lifetime but I have never experienced anything as dreadful as when I volunteered for the Find Jaliek Task Force. I was a Girl Scout leader when my daughter was a Girl Scout and volunteered for my son when he was in Cubs. I helped my daughter sell Girl Scout cookies and my son sell apples for Cubs. I helped the girls and boys earn their badges and went on many camping trips with them. I volunteered in my childrens schools helping the teachers in the classrooms, pizza days, school trips and in the library. I was a Block Parent and an advocate for Neighbourhood Watch. I carpooled many times transporting children. I first heard about Jaliek on the news. At that time I was my dads caretaker. My dad was 87 and he was no longer able to care for himself. He had a weak heart and a bad back from several fractures. My dad was wheel chair bound. I did everything for my dad that you would do for a baby. When I was no longer able to get dad to his doctor appointments then I had Hospice come in to check his vitals and his medications. Hospice was wonderful. I wouldnt have been able to continue doing the things for dad I did without their help. My dad passed away peacefully in March at home. Hospice even stayed with me and helped me with the funeral arrangements. I chatted with people in Topix about Jaliek but was unable to help find him as I was caring for my dad. I wasnt able to leave my dad home alone. After my dad passed away I decided to volunteer my time at the bake sales. The people there seemed nice enough and our goal was to raise as much money as we could for Jaliek. Thats what I did. I aggressively approached people for donations. There was talk of handing out Jaliek fliers in Washington Park on Mothers Day. I went there and we must have driven around the park about 10 times before we were able to find a parking spot. We walked around the park a few times - didnt see anyone there handing out fliers and so we went home. When I asked why no one was in the park handing out fliers - I was given told a bunch of lies. I did not receive one apology for anyone. They laughed as if it was a joke. When I asked about donation refunds as per what I read on the Find Jaliek web site - I was insulted and threatened in every way you can imagine. There were concerns that the monies donated were used inappropriately. The monies donated were suppose to be used as a reward for the location of Jaliek Rainwalker. I was accused of stealing money at the bake sales - accused of being unsociable and accused of not being there for Jaliek. Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way. I sure learned my lesson. I will never volunteer my time for a group ever again. If anyone does decide to volunteer - make sure you know the people you are volunteering with. Make sure you know who you are donating your hard earned money to. Dont get sucked in like I did. You never know what their true agenda really is and you might get caught up doing something that you will regret. There are a lot of scam artists in the form of do gooders. My plan is to get the word out to as many people as I can so they dont make the same mistake I did.

Yeah, I live in the Village of Greenwich, and the people running the Find Jaliek "Taskforce" or whatever it is they call themselves are out of their minds for the mind part.

Oh such a busy mother. Probably rant how busy you are and don't work. Cry me a river.
