A couple of Saturdays ago, I left the new Greenwich Time office on East Putnam Avenue to attend a friend's birthday party in Guilford, way up Interstate 95 east of New Haven.

We feel your pain as 95 in Fairfield County is certainly an outmoded, outdated dinosaur. But when complaining about the return of funds from your area's decidely robust economic engine do not overlook the large subsidies for Metro North Railroad (can you say Maintenance Facilty). Also please examine the percentage of federal highway funds CT receives compared to fed gas tax contributions and ask why it has fallen in recent years. Lieberman, who was on the tranportation committee, missed many votes while chasing national office...

It's all a much, much, much larger issue than just 95 -- it goes to the whole ineptitude of the state leadership and DOT. An Express Train from NYC for Casino Patrons is a fantastic idea and has been suggested by many, including transportation policy boards, but moving the state and DOT to action is almost impossible.

BTW -- there is a very nice Shoreline East train that stops in Guilford

Since when is it appropriate to call a driver who leaves space in front of them 'annoying'? Annoying is the roadraging guy driving the 'sporty' car swerving in and out of the lanes because he is frustrated with not having a road to drive on like the ones in the TV commercials; annoying is the SUV driver swerving into your lane while talking on a cell (and of course not using the turn signals); annoying is the goofy looking kid in his dad's car hunched down like a race car driver in one of those "I'm a nerd' baseball caps, gunning his engine next to you.

"And for the greater public policy goal of getting people off the highways, how about casino express trains that could run from Grand Central Terminal to New London, there to be met by all those Foxwoods buses that now travel I-95?

I think these might draw more passengers and take more traffic off the roads than the New Haven to Hartford commuter train the state is planning to introduce a few years from now. "

If this was written sarcastically, you need to do a better job expressing it.

If this is a serious comment, I've never read a more ridiculous comment written in a newspaper article in my life.

Why so, it seems to make a lot of sense to me.
