Went there today, hoping to enjoy our meal. Nice staff, singularily disappointing food. The worst Shepherd's Pie we've ever had (both of us are British). Its pathetically lazy to use reconstituted dried potato when there is so much fresh produce available in Wisconsin.

Experienced the same: Great service and atmosphere, disappointing food.

Once we were seated it took over 10 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge us and bring menues. Food was cold, soggy, and tastless.

Dined there Saturday night. The food was great!!! Love the Shepherd's Mashed potatoes!!! The wine was also fantastic. I will certainly return as I love the atmosphere and am ready to try more of the menu. Love the definitions on the back side of the menu also.

Had such high hopes for this place. Drove down from Green Bay to try it. Our waiter was just the best, no doubt about that. A really nice guy who did a great job.(Thanks,Zack !!)

My husband ordered blackened Mahi Mahi. Dry with NO flavor whatsoever except some heat from the very marginal blackening. I ordered the Fish N'Chips. British Pub...can't go wrong with Fish N'Chips, right? Wrong. Greasy, greasy, greasy and it had NO flavor as well. I had to ask for Malt Vinegar and it took our poor waiter 15 minutes to find some. What kind of British Pub doesn't have Malt Vinegar on EVERY table?? This one...

And as the much hoped for British Pub ambiance? None. There WAS a miniature British call box full of Bobbys hats in the entry way. And they had a fireplace...uhm...sort of. It had a screen in front with a "fire" projected onto it.

Sigh. We won't be back. So disappointing.

WENT THERE SATURDAY, I ASKED WHAT THE SPECIALS WERE, WAS TOLD PRIME RIB, $13.99, ORDERED THAT, WAS GOOD, NO VEGETABLES, NO SALAD, JUST MEAT AND POTATOES, THEN GOT MY BILL AND PRIME RIB WAS $18.99. LEFT VERY DISSAPOINTED.

Went there once, was absolutely rubbish. Crap grub, no decent import beers on tap - all Miller and Budweiser bollocks. Shephards Pie looked more like shephards s**t. From London, so I should know a decent British pub when I see one.

Went there a while back to experience it. I've been happy with Good Company and Pullman's, so I had high hopes with this place. Service was adequate. Nothing like an English pub, though. Food was crap. No malt vinegar, and no HP or brown sauce for my chips (unless you count the A-1 steak sauce, but there is a difference). Beer list was pretty disappointing, too.
And to answer the question above, Shepherd's pie is made with minced beef. Cottage pie is with lamb. Done right, both are very good. Beefeater's just took too many shortcuts, that I can't call it a british eatery. Not even close.

I have a general rule to never order seafood when I am inland.
If you have ever actually had fish and chips in England, you would also see that they are greasy, greasy, greasy.

British Pub food is nasty, you could only sell it to Brits or people who don't really know what British Pub food is - like maybe somewhere in Wisconsin.

Going on Thursday night. Let's hope the owners have read all these comments and have made changes that will improve the dining experience. Generally on sites where people make comments, 90% of those that report are those that are not pleased, the rest are generally satisfied with their experience. Willing to give it a try, hope it's not a disappointment.

My husband and I dined at Beefeater's last eve.
He ordered the all you can eat fish and I ordered the jumbo shrimp. He said the oil tasted stale and the shrimp was to well done on the outside and mushy on the inside.

We were not happy with our meals although the service was good.

I stopped in the bar. Not bad, but then I'm comparing it to Chicago prices. Didn't have any food but only cuz I already ate before I found it. Not trying to tell people how to run their business but every hotel I've stayed at around here has an info pack about your local directory (community page??) and when I clicked on beefeaters they havent added their menu. Hello. It's 2008. Get online cuz i never go anywhere without checking out their menu first.
