As far as I know Hill has not yet announced, although there is some scuttlebutt to that effect.

Hill is a crook. Need proof, Brad? Check out the tax assessor's website and look into Hill Grain which Richard owns. Why does he not pay business personal property taxes on the semis and trailers he uses in association with the business?

Not here to support or condemn anyone. Just curious as to who people would vote for, considering that no candidates have yet announced.

I won't vote for any of them if they are running in the Republican Primary, because I don't want to add credibility to that party by taking part in their election. They have discredited themselves and should be boycotted.

Save the County, how about we look into Meeks nursery business hmmm! Talking about a crook, how many people in this county does he owe money to and refuses to pay back? Isn't that the same as stealing???? And he calls himself a "lawman"?

I think all candidates should give full financial disclosure of their income. Those that are scared too are hiding something. It seems there are pleanty of negative posts and threads on Topix for both Meeks and Hill. Are they the best Hunt County has to offer? Until the crooks are no longer voted into office, Hunt County will continue to be the arm pit of NE Tx.

I have to agree with you on the full financial disclosure on all parties involved!! I believe that should be done before they are even allowed to sign up to run!! Great idea, savehuntcounty!

How do you run for sheriff? Do you have to be backed by a political party? Its a job i have always wanted. I have been in law enforcement for only 15 years in Rockwall. Any suggestions will be appreciated

You do not have to be affiliated with a particular party, but it makes the process easier. If you choose to run as a Republican or Democrat, you sign up to run in one the other political party's primaries. If you area registered voter and meet the residency requirements, fill out the paperwork correctly and either pay your filing fee or submit the necessary number of signatures of registered voter supporters, you can get on the ballot. You would then need to win that party's nomination for the office and, assuming you have opposition later on, win the office outright in November.
If you choose to run as an independent or write-in candidate, you have to declare your intention to do so by a certain date with your county elections administrator or county clerk, then wait until after the primaries and any runoffs and obtain the signatures of enough registered voters who did not participate in the primaries or runoffs and submit them to the county elections administrator or county clerk by a certain date, in time for them to certify the names and then you can be on the November ballot.
As for the numbers of signatures or the dates needed to file, you would need to speak to the county elections administrator or county clerk.
Thats the basics anyway.
