Thinking of relocating to greenville but woried about the crime

I read an awfull lot of crime going on around the greenville/spartanburg area, wondering just how bad is that area.

I retired in the area...only now I am sorry that I did not research how the 'people' who are from S.C. treat the people who move here from the north. From what I have found out is that most of them have never been out of their state. I agree that S.C. is a beautiful state...but the 'hateful' people are just too much. Oh, they all go to Church every week...but they do not practice what my bible teaches. You may get lucky & meet some 'natives' who are not like this...I have not been so lucky. Don't build a house from anyone who is a 'native'...we were cheated out of our money & in general...had a rough time. Also, if you move here...make sure that you do not get your insurance from an agent from an old 'native family'...we were not getting our 'discounts' on our auto policies & met with the agent to ask why? He said, "Oh, you are getting them...they just don't put the discount amounts on your policies anymore". Needless to say...we went to another agent in town (that was not born here or raised here) & she was totally confused as to "just why" this other agent told us this lie. We have been with the second agent...ever since, the first one lied to us. Protect yourself if you come here...use builders, plumbers, electricians, insurance agents, etc. who are from the north or west...not here or you 'will be cheated'.

the driving issue that doesn't sound too bad, i used to work midnights in east st louis.
now there's an experience,there lucky if they have tail lights, bumpers, or even fenders, but they do have headlights & only know how to drive with brights on, make u turns in the middle of 4 lane roads, stop in the middle of the lane to talk to the other brotha's, & insurance well forget that there.
crime doesn't sound real bad except for the inner city west/ northwest side, up north around marietta, but no biggy since i'll be out in either pickens or oconee county.
i've had guns pointed at me, allmost ran over 2 guys, one chasing the other down the road with a tire iron trying to kill him, gunshots every night for most of the night, so if i can deal with that i imagine most places would be a peice of cake.

The crime here is horrific. Check the facts, SC ranks #1 in violent crimes per capita. Everynight, multiple deaths are put on the news and for a relatively small city like Greenville,sc, it is even worse! I miss CT so much, yeah the taxes were much higher, but they were worth it!
