How do you get certain forums deleted? Can you even do this?

Yes you can get forums removed after the investigation of harassment has begun. They will review all the data and trace every ISP, and yes it will identify the iPhone or mobile device you are using they are considered a computer and have an individual ISP number. It will identify the account holders name and they (the investigators) will be contacting the offender in a few days when the investigation is completed.

I need to clarify offenders, because everyone will be contacted for questioning even if the comment made was not malicious.

$19.95 can get a post removed. But that is all. Unless there has been a crime committed using a post no info will be released.

So if I report it, will the entire forum be removed? How long does it usually take and what exactly do I need to do?

So will it be removed if people are just being ugly and talking about the person and how horrible a person they are?

I had a post removed. I sent message to webmaster and stated my reasons. They did not remove entire topic, but did remove the one that was malicious.

can you have it traced yourself? If so how?

Topix does not collect any unique information about you (such as your name, email address, etc.) except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information. For example, Topix DOES collect such information from those users registering as Community Users and/or User Editors. Topix notes and saves information such as time of day, browser type, browser language, and IP address with each query. That information is used to verify our records and to provide more relevant services to users. For example, Topix may use your IP address or browser language to determine which language to use when showing search results or advertisements.

I have heard people say they can hack into it and see who is doing the posts. I did not know if that was true or not. I have seen other people on other forums say they have gotten it traced. It does not seem very realistic to me though.

Next time somebody tells you they can or have hacked into it ask for proof. I guarantee you won't get any.

Yes it can be hacked in to. But you or the person that plans on doing this must be ready to face the fact of what will happen if you get caught. I know a few people that has had this done. So yes, it is possible. Just better be careful

So how can they get that information. Does it tell the persons email address or what? Do you have to be on that persons computer like if you already suspect them or can you do it all from your own computer?

This is from 2/12/2009 so far the case has not been resolved.
A judge in Texas has ordered the site Topix to reveal identifying information about 178 anonymous commenters who allegedly defamed two residents online.
The commenters had written about Mark and Rhonda Lesher, a Clarksville, Texas couple indicted last April for sexually assaulting one of Mark Lesher's former clients. Mark Lesher is an attorney and Rhonda runs a salon. The couple was acquitted last month.
But in the nine months that the criminal case was pending, people posted more than 25,000 comments to Topix message boards about the charges, according to the 365-page lawsuit. For instance, one commenter allegedly wrote: "Mark Lesher is a coward that hides behind women, when he is not drugging them and raping them," according to the complaint.
The Leshers sued 178 commenters for defamation and asked the court to order Topix to disclose any information that could identify them. A judge in Tarrant County granted that request and ordered Topix to comply with a subpoena by March 6.
Chris Tolles, CEO of Topix, said the company was still studying the court's order. "We take the privacy of our users very seriously," Tolles said. "We're trying to make sure that whatever is asked for here is reasonable and balances the need for freedom of speech against the needs of the court." He added that the site does not have commenters' email addresses.

So I'm thinking if a person had 30 to 100 thousand dollars to spend doing it you may be able to get it to court.

so the ones saying they hacked into the posts and got the names are pretty much lying right. I really do wish people would think before they put things on here about people. It might be funny to you but you can really do a lot of damage to that person or their family. But I really did not think even a hacker could trace it.

Yes it can be tracked. The average person probably does not know how to do it but any advance computer person can. If there are slandering statements about a person on Topix the state police can track it as well.

It can be traced! I have saw the results myself. But you can believe what you want. I just advise that unless you have the balls to say the same to their face that you do on here, you may want to think before you comment. You can believe what you want tho.

You wish. Why don't you contact the people in Texas that's been trying for two years and tell them all about it.
