NOT oldschool Democrats

United States

It has been said many times that the Republicans and NRA are responsible for much fear mongering in terms of gun rights. It is also the naive belief of many "old school" Democrats that the party is NOT a threat to your rights as gun owners. Perhaps you should read our Democrat party's platform on the DEMOCRAT WEBSITE (not FOX's, not NRA's, not Glen Beck's)

http://www.democrats.org/democratic-national-...

"PROTECTING RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS...
Fireamrs...We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact commonsense improvements¬ólike reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole"

REMEMBER THIS??? Did absolutely NOTHING to deter crime!!! History is proof.
-Want to buy a 12 round magazine for your .22 rifle? NOPE
-Want to add a folding stock to your firearm? NOPE
-Want to buy a semi-auto shotgun that holds more than 3 rounds? FORGET IT

WHAT COMES NEXT?
-Ammunition registry?
-National gun registry?
-Ammunition tax?
-Lead ammunition ban?
-Ammunition limits?
-Prohibition from buying reloading supplies online?
-Ban on handguns?
-Ban on high capacity magazines (+10 rounds)
-Tax on firearms (similar to the Class 3 stamp)
-Federal ban on concealed carry?
-Federal ban on open carry?

Maybe the party should just BAN criminals. I am a registered Democrat - but I cannot vote to support them this time.

This hits "close to home". This is one of the many reasons that I will vote against my party also. I will not support a party that is naive enough to believe that I am a threat because I want a 12 round magazine for my .22 pistol or an AR-15 for varmint hunting or hog hunting down south.

You Repubs are soooo stupid. It was the Republicans that pushed for the Brady Bill. It was Reagan while Governor of California that ban guns anywhere outside the home. It was Obama that signed the only gun Bill so far to come across his desk. The Right to Carry on Federal Lands.
Glen Beck, Rush and the NRA have made millions on the weak minded playing the FEAR game.

So I guess the Democrat platform is false... or maybe FOX and Beck hijacked their printers and website. Reagan is no longer governor, president or living. You are surely brainwashed if you think the Dems are more pro-gun rights than the Republican party of today.

I totally agree with you. You must understand that you are probably speaking to weak minds that are brainwashed by sitting and watching fox news day and night. They will all deny it,but as they are going through this denial, they are turning on fox news again. This stupid news station is like an addition for them. They need rehab in the worse way. I almost feel sorry for them, they can't help themselves, and are in constant denial. They actually get mad if your opinion is different than those of a low life republican. I hate fox news and what it does to weak minded republicans. Rush Limbaugh is their hero. WOW!!!!

What in the hell does FOX news have to do with the Democrat platform on gun rights?

You forgot to blame Bush for something as well. Simple-minded pukes like you are the reason that I am leaving the Democrat party this election.

Of the two candidates, only one has SIGNED into law a ban on any type of firearm. AND quadrupled licensing fees. Wanna guess which one?

Hint: He doesn't live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and never will.

Rush is far from being any type of hero. Not all Republicans watch Fox for information, believe it or not some of us have college degrees we earned not purchased online from some off the wall university wanna be. Everyone speaks about gun laws, economic growth, jobs, and education in some shape or form. None of this is going to matter if we don't put IN GOD WE TRUST back in this country. We need God first and the rest will be taken care of.

Calm down, we understand you are in withdraw from watching fox news station. You have again been mis-informed by your trashy fox news station, concerning President Obama. Just pick up the remote and turn it to CNN to get a good antidote for your fox poison in your system. CNN will tell it the way it is, but I guess you really don't want to hear the truth. Oh by the way President Obama has jumped 5 percentage points ahead of romney since last thursday. I realize the whole world knows this except, you guest it FOX NEWS.

"Just keep supporting that Muslum capitalist."

You must have gotten a weak batch of koolaide. You're SUPPOSED to call him a "Marxist", "socialist", "communist", and or "Leninist". ANYTHING but a capitalist. There's nothing "scary" about THAT.

The current course is to create the welfare states of america. There is no room in this for guns or a local militia. Obama must control the arms and will before it is all over.

I will bet that if elected, at some point he tries to remove the term limits for president, like his buddy in Venezuela.

"I will bet that if elected, at some point he tries to remove the term limits for president, like his buddy in Venezuela."

And just how would that help him? It would take a constitutional amendment. Even if it were possible to get it through. He would be long gone before the process could be completed.

But keep being afraid. Very, very afraid. The boogieman is coming.

If he wants it, him and his cronies - esp those in Chicago will make it happen. My point though - is that his actions aim this country towards a more welfare state - he says he is for the middle class but he is pushing more of then down into lower class.

This was NOT a discussion about:
*FOX NEWS
*BUSH
*TERM LIMITS
*COMMUNISM
*OBMAMA HATING GOD

The topic is the PLATFORM OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY REGARDING GUN RIGHTS.

This is NOT someone's opinion!
This is NOT rhetoric from FOX News!
This IS directly from the Democrat document.
How much more clear do you people need it? BOTH party's that have responded here are typical of what is happening in Washington - spewing off topic, irrelevant crap that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

The DEMOCRATS want to re-instate the AWBan. PERIOD. Yes, Obama has signed ONE bill into law that reinforces the right that it is constitutional to carry on GOVERNMENT PARK PROPERTY(only where in accordance with state laws-was a states right issue from the start). How does this make his administration somehow pro-gun all the way? Does this negate the fact that the party WANTS to reinstate the ban?

In contrast, YES Romney has been no angel on gun issues in the past in Mass. However, his view-his VP's view-the GOP view is a stark difference from what the Dems are offering.

What is so hard to decipher about this???

I do thank you very much - and there is the power there to do it -- hell they screw with the constitution all the time - no state sponsored religion for one --

I think if he retains power we will see somethings that we never expected out of that office. Either that or he will be more of a dud than he has been.

I'm not sure how powerful his cronies in the People's Republic of Illinois are... but there will be 2-3 seats possibly open on the Supreme Court in the next 4 years. They ARE powerful. The end of term limits is possibly far fetched, but there will be much more to worry about if the SCt is unbalanced to the extent of his choice of possible nominees.
