People that consume alcohol are getting it in CC anyway so why not go wet and keep that money in G'ville. I'm sure G'ville will use the regulatory money more wisely than CC has. It will create more jobs and revenue for the city. I think it would be a good move.

Better check the State Alcoholic Beverage Control laws. You can't just spend that money for anything. Besides you better believe that Greenville's Mayor will fight it from city hall along with the fine people at the VFW and Greenville Country Club. If it went wet they'd have to give up all the illegal gambling that goes on in those places. Just ask the folks at the CC Eagles and American Legion.

All it takes is a petition, If someone will be willing to stand up for it and the signatures are there, then it can go up for a vote at the next election.

Bob's right......the the country club would have a shit fit....we should get the petition started anyway, if for no other reason than to get their panites in a wad.

Not to mention all the 'closet' drinkers that still travel to O'boro to get their booze...they can't risk being seen buying it in this county. LOL

Your timing is bad. The number of required signatures is based on the number of people who voted in the most recent general election. Since the voter turnout in the presidential election hit record numbers, you'll want to wait until after a "less important" election where voter turnout is low. Then your petition will require less signatures.

What I think is funny when you go to the Purple Onion and see the teachers with the (white cups) like nobody knows whats in there, drunk ,your closest drinkers or your CC, Greeville CC but ask them if they drink oh no, I am as straigh as can be. But how many times have they been pulled over or had a wreck Stone ( Opps he ownes his own insurances company it never gets filed.) And most of them are is buds

I guess I'm naive but when I go to the Purple Onion (which is about two or three times a month) I've never seen that. I've never seen a drunk there.
I know the police (both state and local) monitor the place pretty closely and have been known to pull over people who appear to drive erratically when leaving (just ask Stone's mom...it happened to her last year). I've never seen anyone I'd call "Drunk" in there. I did go to Philly's (which is dry) a couple of months ago and saw a table of four that had FOUR obviously drunk people sitting there. They were loud, obnoxius and annoying. Funny, I thought Greenville was DRY!

I've ordered alcohol at Purple Onion and never got it in a 'white cup'. Do you have to ask for that?

Yeah, UNC is right, even thought Greenville is dry - there is no shortage of drunks.
