I think that alliance is the best around to work at! you get bonus every week the insurance is the bomb!!!! also SEBREE MINING IS THE PLACE TO GO BUT GOOD LUCK!!! it is very very very hard to get on there, you have a better chance to go to river view and warrior and elk creek before sebree mining! I am so glad I have my job out there! KEN AMERICA sucks!! yes back in the early 90s they there were the best but not anymore...

Definitely agree with ya. The employees are just a number to them. HR is terrible for sure!

Jim do you work at tva? I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. I know for a fact that they would phase out other units in the tva system that dont have scrubbers or catalyst. So why not unit 3 then? Cause it's the money maker? Not really considering it is down more than unit 1 and unit 2 just set the world record for a cyclone boiler for longest running time without a shutdown. All 3 units have the same exact standard emissions. There are alot older plants with alot less output and hardly any emissions in the tva system.
joe really knows since they are shutting down 2 units and over 700 people in local mines will loose jobs

We don't need loose jobs anyway. Tight jobs are what we need.

No coal mine is a gravy train!!!!! I would give anything to be able to go back to school and get the Hell out of the mine. I have 2 sons and my wife and I will and have do everything so they won't have to go to the mines!!!! It's put food on our table, but at what cost?? My Dad was a miner, he's now 56 and has chronic breathing problems, back, knee, and shoulder pain daily. Needless to say, he can't mine anymore!!! It's sad because around here mining is about the only good paying jobs there are without a college degree.

Look into csx! They are hiring.. theyll send you and pay for your schooling for the 6 weeksl training in atl. I make more money than I did in the mines at 29 an hour but 80/20 insurance.

There is no such thing as a good coal mine or mine company. Some are just not as bad as others.

I have to say Ken American Resources is the best coal mine around. The employees get almost every weekend off and crazy amounts of royalty every two weeks. It seems like a really good place to work. I don't work there but I am going to try to get a Job there. I'm currently at Armstrong coal.
I would not go to work there. My husband worked there for a year, and I was terrified every night. They have low safety standards, and pay.

They have been working weekends lately because they have a rock fall on the belt line but they are up and running now trying to get there goal for this month. They have already hit budget. Any other time they have every weekend off.
lmao ken is a lousy place to work !! Off every weekend ?thats a joke!! I worked there 3yrs and worked almost every weekend!!! Any alliance mine is better truly a 5 day a week operation. Ken does pay crazy bonus money! But at what cost ? If you never get a day off how you gonna enjoy it ! Take my word for it you are better off where you are
