I agree with Yeah. Go to a meeting or two. See how local government works. Inform yourself. You might find answers to your questions that topix cannot provide. Less fun and less snark but you'll feel smart and be truly in the know.
I would love to be able to go to a meeting but I work every day and they have meetings at 4:00 in the afternoon most of the time when most people are at work. I do not get off until 4:30 and have to work outside the county because there are NO jobs that pay well here in Muhlenberg county. I have been to meetings in the past and all they did at the two I have been to is complain about that they did not take the yearly raise that they were "entitled" to take. We just have lots and lots of waste in Muhlenberg. When the coal severance money runs out or declines, some of this Martin money dries up, and TVA stops paying so much in lieu of taxes who do you think is going to be left holding the bag to pay for all of the upkeep on these pet projects? They are building a really nice park in the middle of a flood plain next to the High School that I will be surprised if it can ever pay for it's own upkeep. Mostly waste in Muhlenberg County.

You make some good points but it'll be another 45 years or so before the Martin Foundation money has all been distributed. 50 year program.

I may be around in 50 years but I doubt it, but I'm pretty sure I will see the end to this program a lot sooner than 50 years. Hey, but who knows I have been wrong before, that one time anyway. Look for an increase in our school taxes soon. Already getting info about a possible 20% budget cut in funding in a few years. It's about to get really expensive to live in Muhlenberg County cause taxes will get outrageous. We are spending money we have no guarantee will always be there building more projects that will require maintenance and upkeep from now on. How many years has it been since the Ben Topmiller park was opened out at Luzerne? Now most of it has grown up with only a couple of fields being utilized. I see this in lots of places in the near future in Muhlenberg County. But what do I know? I'm just some crazy nut who doesn't know anything. Remember you have been told what's coming though.
