Iím really concerned with the stuff that goes on in this facility. I go to the Muhlenberg Job corps center in KY at the moment. And Iím very disappointed in what Iíve seen.

The rules have become ridiculas and donít make since. The department of labor has come in and has done their inspections.

My friend brought up to me today what happened last night, they were instructed by a staff member who worked with them and had Christmas decorations put up in the honors dorm. Last night a staff member went there and said they were ďfuckingĒ tacky then proceeded to rip them all down.

They then started spewing out stupid rules like, if you go to use the bathroom during the night; you have to make your bed first. But itís silly because itís the sleeping time.

Iíve seen the dorm president bend and break rules, so I said something about it, which caused me a lot of problems, not only was my status removed, but I had people giving me problems on campus as well. I was targeted by the president, it wasnít until he finally got his way was I then returned to my captain status.

I remember in high school, we did not have to stand for the pledge legally, but here we do not have a choice or else we will get write ups. I have nothing against the army, but I have my own agenda thatís in conflict with America beliefs and I chose not to stand due to my rights being violated. During this, a staff member came to me asking me why I didnít stand; I said that legally I donít have to, instead of giving my reasons. He then yelled at me in my group ďYES YOU DO!Ē

I was very upset with that, to top it off he then went to the podium and gave a speech about it. I then received an appointment card for a conference in the administrative building where I was given a writ up and screamed at very loudly about how I donít have a choice that I have to stand up. Then they went on a ram page yelling at me and accusing me of out of context stuff like.

ďDo you hate America!? Do you not like the military, you have a problem with the United States!!!??Ē

I am a instructor at a out of state Job Corps and have been for 15 years. This place does not cost you a penny and if you can not be a human being and stand up for the Pledge in the thought of people fighting and dying for you to be here..... I agree with the comment of "Ricky Bobby" !!!

Its not the idea of not saying the pledge, but being required to. We should do it because we want to not from being forced to.

Whether they are fighting or not, they shouldn't be there and yes our tax money does cover the costs.

Jan 20th will be the end of an error, and in with a non american. Which is worse!

I am currently going to Job Corps, and I must say that yes, some of the rules are VERY asanine. The 'leaders' bend and break the rules to suit themselves. And people are spreading ridiculous rumors and drama and conspiracies like no tomorrow. Yet, it is how you handle them that makes this place good or bad. you have to affiliate yourself with the people who won't act immature. And no offense, but screaming at someone for not standing for the pledge is very immature. Yes soldiers do die for us to live here and be free, but they also have died for us to have the freedom not to conform to a pledge. So saying that they die for us to be free means that we can only be free the way you want us to be? Must we all change to your liking? No sir, that is a travesty of the original intentions of the Bill Of Rights. We are here for ourselves, not for conformist imbeciles. That is why most, but not all, of people who go to Job Corps go here. This is a place to ensure that you can get a successful career. And don't even pull out the "My tax money pays for the program' card. Because if a trainee completes the program and gets a job, then they will end up paying twice as much back in taxes eventually if not more. NOw would the government to invest a mere $30,000 in a single person to end up getting more than $300,000 back in taxes that they wouldn't have been able to pay without a job?

Poor Jimmy.
Sounds like you want something for nothing, you live in America, that is the way,pay taxes and the bills you make, deal with it.As for not standing up for the Flag and sitting on your but,I would be upset also.Think of the American Soldiers that died for this country. The next time you need to show some pride in your Country.

You don't have to say the pledge but you should stand up. I don't know why you think the pledge has anything to do with the military. Its not even mentioned in the pledge. It does say "liberty and justice" for all. So by not saying the pledge your saying you don't have any liberty and totally disqualify your whole point. As a taxpayer who pays for that facilty that your attending for "free" it really irks me that you would complain about the pledge in the first place! In reference to the Xmas decorations you gave no description of what they were. If they were defaming, obscene they should have come down. Seems to me one of the jobs of this facilty is to teach some self discipline, respect for rules and laws. Perhaps thats one of the reasons your there.

I'm not complaining about taxes, If i was complaining I wouldn't even be here. I was just explaining why Job Corps actually exists, which is to increase the number of taxpayers. People go to job corps for man personal reasons also, so it would be polite not to generalize. There are always more than one side to the stories, so don't get extremely patriotic when you weren't there so you really can't come into it headlong. Think more on both terms, yes, maybe he should've stood for the pledge out of respect. But they should not have yelled at him for not standing, maybe he don't believe in god, or other reasons for not standing. He may even not think it would be right to stand under a republic. And as a taxpayer who attends here, it really irks me that people who don't go here and experience what it is like can selfishly assume innappropriate things about those who do.

I feel your pain but what did you expect going into a government operated facility where you dont have to pay a dime for anything? Its honestly not that bad its the same in high school and we all have to go thru 4 years of that so yeah unless something major is going dong sweat the small stuff.

Job Corps is a choice for some, others are forced there by their parents. Some, despite being against rules and regulations, are being forced there by criminal and family courts. Job Corps is like every other government thing... Broken and functions only half a$$edly. Sorry to whomever said it, but no, attending job corps is only like high school IF you are a non-residential student.

Columbusind -->> I attended a center in Illinois where similar and if not far worse things went on. On a personal level, you probably could have stood up for the pledge - you ARE in America. However, you could have stood there silently, as many often do. Job Corps is a nightmare.. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians, per se. If being there is an option, I suggest you exit stage left.... Once that bridge is crossed, its burned the moment that you do.
