Multiple Scientific Studies Confirm: Extreme Conservatism Linked to Racism, Low I.Q.

An article published at Psychology Today by Goal Auzeen Saedi, Ph.D. of Millennial Media writes about the correlation between far right-wing conservatism, low intelligence and racism.

Saedi writes,

“Hodson and Busseri (2012) found in a correlational study that lower intelligence in childhood is predictive of greater racism in adulthood, with this effect being mediated (partially explained) through conservative ideology. They also found poor abstract reasoning skills were related to homophobic attitudes which was mediated through authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact.”

We checked the study Hodson and Busseri study, and the abstract certainly does say,“Despite their important implications for interpersonal behaviors and relations, cognitive abilities have been largely ignored as explanations of prejudice. We proposed and tested mediation models in which lower cognitive ability predicts greater prejudice, an effect mediated through the endorsement of right-wing ideologies (social conservatism, right-wing authoritarianism) and low levels of contact with out-groups. In an analysis of two large-scale, nationally representative United Kingdom data sets (N = 15,874), we found that lower general intelligence (g) in childhood predicts greater racism in adulthood, and this effect was largely mediated via conservative ideology. A secondary analysis of a U.S. data set confirmed a predictive effect of poor abstract-reasoning skills on antihomosexual prejudice, a relation partially mediated by both authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact. All analyses controlled for education and socioeconomic status. Our results suggest that cognitive abilities play a critical, albeit underappreciated, role in prejudice. Consequently, we recommend a heightened focus on cognitive ability in research on prejudice and a better integration of cognitive ability into prejudice models.”

A January 2012 article in the Journal Live Science also cites the Hodsdon-Busseri study,“There’s no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb…Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice.”

Indeed, University of Washington Political Science Professor Christopher Parker, author of the new book Change They Can’t Believe In: The Tea Party and Reactionary Politics in America agrees.
Professor Parker, interviewed by Chris Matthews says,
“What we’ve found out, we’ve come up with something that we called Reactionary Conservatism. What that means is, where as a regular conservative or a more mainstream conservative recognizes change is necessary to avoid revolutionary change, a reactionary conservative actually wants to go back in time. In the book we tie the Tea Party to the Know Nothing party of the 1850s, the Clan of the 1920s, the John Birch Society of the late 1950s and 1960s. It’s the same belief system, Chris, this idea that they’re scared of losing the America that they know and love to these other groups of people.”

Americans Against the Tea Party reported on this very subject when a white, racist TEApublican CPAC attendee suggested that slavery wasn’t so bad, and that blacks should be thankful they were given food and shelter while they were slaves.

So the next time you’re criticized for pointing out that conservative TEAvangelicals, TEApublicans and Libertarian-types are unintelligent, racist sociopaths – you can say,“It’s a scientific fact.” Of course they don’t believe in science either.

These clowns never quit. Instead of making laws to help the country, they are constantly wasting taxpayer money fighting laws upheld by the courts. Ignorant grandstanders thinking they could be President, when they can't even be Senators.

Ted Cruz Introduces Anti-Gay Marriage Bill

WASHINGTON -- It seems Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has taken up a new cause in Congress -- defending states' right to regulate marriage.
Amid a wave of court decisions striking down anti-gay marriage laws in states, the Texas Republican introduced a bill to the Senate Wednesday to amend U.S. law "with regard to the definition of 'marriage' and 'spouse' for Federal purposes and to ensure respect for State regulation of marriage." Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) is the bill's only co-sponsor so far.

While Cruz's bill has next to no chance of even coming up in the Democratic-controlled Senate, let alone being signed by President Barack Obama, it is a sign that gay marriage is still an issue among the conservative right. While Republican governors such as Chris Christie of New Jersey and Susana Martinez of New Mexico have decided not to fight gay marriage in their states despite being opposed to it, federal lawmakers have continued to introduce bills limiting its recognition.

Even Sarah Palin Agrees, Christie Probably Knew What His Aides Were Up to During Bridgegate Scandal

To be fair, Chris Christie and half-term governor/ full-term Republican abortion Sarah Palin have never been bosom buddies. Christie (an old-school corporate evangelical) is on record last July as having called the Tea Party “very dangerous.” And indeed, it is to him; not least of which because he’d rather grow the government and use it to make himself rich, rather than to burn it so other people can get rich. And that’s not something Sarah Palin appreciates — for God’s sake, the man didn’t even wish her a happy 50th birthday.

Still, though, Palin hasn’t been particularly hard on the head of the Republican Governor’s Association, of which she was (briefly) a member. She’s been a bit lukewarm on him overall, going so far once as to effectively call him unelectably fat. But with damning evidence surrounding Bridgegate daily rearing its double-chinned head, Palin’s now officially jumped on the Republican bandwagon of disowning the RGA’s lead man.

During an Inside Edition interview on Tuesday, she paused briefly from discussion of Clay Aiken (with whom she shares a date of cultural relevancy) to discuss Chris Christie. Having previously stated that BridgeGate is a scandal whose atrocity pales only in comparisons to Obama’s, she said:

“It’s hard to be the CEO of an organization and not know what the closest people to you are up to. It’s tough not to know. I know when I was mayor and manager of this city and then governor of the state, certainly you know what your top aides are up to.

Continuing the disownment of her former RGA leader, quoth the viper:
“Even if Chris Christie were a Democrat, people would still be very, very outraged to find out that bureaucrats were involved in messing up people’s schedules and lives via power plays.”

The irony in Sarah’s condemnation runs nearly as thick as the average Alaskan’s back pelt; in 2008, she found herself embroiled in a “gate” scandal of her own, when she tried to get a state trooper Mike Wooten fired. Wooten’s crime? Being Palin’s ex-brother-in-law, and getting into a custody battle with Palin’s sister.

So, Sarah, via TrooperGate, is certainly qualified to opine on abuses of power related to personal spite.

Of course, there’s a little more to her condemnation of Christie than personal spite. The fact that Christie doesn’t support The One (Rand Paul) doesn’t endear him any to Palin or the rest of the Tea Party. The fact that BridgeGate also effectively guarantees that Paul, Great White Hope and Head Pseudointellectual of the Tea Party, will make it onto the Republican presidential ticket in 2016 means that Palin is now free to press the “meanie” button at will.

Now, she just needs to explain how Christie, as evil, fat, stupid, corrupt, unqualified as she’ll inevitably say he is, wound up president of a club she was (briefly) a part of.

HAHAH, these teabaggers are hilarious...especially this nutjob

Michele Bachmann Accidentally Tells the Truth: No Immigration Reform Because Immigrants Aren’t Republicans

Michele Bachmann does it a lot — she projects the desires and intentions of herself and likeminded people on the President and Democrats. This time it’s the subject of immigration reform, saying her party should block it because these immigrants are unlikely to vote for Republicans.

That would be an outrageous enough reason by itself for standing in the way of fixing a law which obviously needs to be dealt with, but she couldn’t leave it at that, she had to go on to say that the President and Democrats want reform because any potential new citizens would be likely to vote for Democrats.

“It’s a terrible idea to go forward, because we have again about 7 million Americans that are looking for employment right now, so our problem is not lack of workers to do jobs. We have a lot of people who would like to work there just aren’t jobs,” Bachmann said, speaking to Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro.

She went on to make the completely false claim that every immigration reform bill that has been proposed would open the borders and completely change the nation forever.

But then she slips up and tells Shapiro why she really is opposed to immigration reform.

“Let’s face it,” she said.“If these were conservative Republicans that were coming illegally into the United States, the last thing President Obama would do is seek to give amnesty and citizenship and legal voting status to the people who were coming into the country.”

There you have it, in her mind the only reason that the President and Democrats want to fix the problem is because any new immigrants, when they become citizens, are likely going to be Democratic voters. She would be all for it if she thought that they might vote for her ideology, and therefore thinks that the Democrats are looking at it the same way. Classic projection.

Watch Sam Seder of the Majority Report dissect her comments in the video below.

Chris Christie SERIOUSLY Called Bush Jr.‘Our Last Successful Politician’

Governor Chris Christie announced that out last successful politician was Dubya. Yes, ladies and gents, the governor who can’t seem to get a break in Hoboken, the guy who thought he could hide an entire bridge under a traffic jam, the guy who thought he was made of Teflon, the politician who was such a good judge of character that he never expected the people he pushed around and bullied to ever find a way to take his “Big Boy” butt down to federal investigation town, said that George W. Bush was the last successful politician in the U.S.

“The guy won two national elections,” Christie said.“How easy has that looked the last 8 years. He was, first, an outstanding political candidate. And I think he was grossly under-appreciated by his own country and his own party as a politician.”

Christie, nicknamed “Big Boy” by Dubya (who apparently had a gift for stating the obvious), was nominated by George Bush to be U.S. Attorney for New Jersey in 2001, and made a point of going after corrupt politicians. Oh, sweet, sweet karma.

Christie added,“He understood the politics of relationships, and understood how to bring people together and spend time on it, both in Texas and as president.”

Ah, yes, George W. Bush, the “unifying” president. We were unified in our disgust and unified in our determination to make sure one of his cronies didn’t get elected. We only hope that “unification” exists in 2014 and 2016.

There are other stories of Christie saying stupid things such as this campaign ad early in Christie’s career where he so denigrates an opponent, he ends up having to pay restitution and apologize. Of course, don’t miss out on Christie cutting meals from school lunch budgets so that poor kids go hungry – because Christie’s definition of success is children starving.

I like Eddie's comment from that page. So right on.

eddie:
Spoken like a true closed minded tunnel visioned heatless lying bully. Forgetting the fact that GWB’s first presidential term was not won by popular election but was an appointment by the SCOTUS. Further, calling GW declared a war and invade an innocent country solely based on lying is a good thing. One must never lose sight that the worst of all types of bullies are those that use lying as a tool to get what they want and not caring harm that can be done including the smallest of possibilities of loss of human life in the process. Our nation should never forget the heartless lying by this man that costed many innocent lives and brand it as the hallmark of GWB’s 8 years presidency as it well should be. Other countries and many leaders in our nation call this man a war criminal. Only Christie’s heartless bulling mindset would be able to find glory in a heartless lying war criminal. Yes, yes, karma truly has a way with all to open the true nature of people like CC and to think that he was the top republican contender for the 2016 presidential election. What a truly scary thought.

bye, bye Christie....
