Whats wrong taxpayer, does the prison not pay a salary that will let you go to Rockfords. ha ha. Thought we had forgot about you, huh. Rockfords is a classy place and they are no higher than any other resturaunt of that caliber. They have menu's. READ BEFORE YOU BUY. If its to high for you, dont buy.

taxpayer if you dont want to pay for eating out then stay home and eat dust, have you checked the prices at the vending machines for the visitors at the prison? chips 150 a bag, everything is triple there, but you wont complain because the guards own the machines and you do get your cut, stop crying big boy.

So true. I haven't been to Rockford's place yet, so it may be pretty good...But I don't call sandwiches and soups very "classy." The thing about Rockford's is its mostly about the music and not the food. Its basically a bar without the alcohol.

I read MikeJones's comments with mixed emotions. While I AGREE with the " METHENBEG COUNTY " comment (and it both scares and breaks my heart, I bristle at the other hurtful venom that spewed from his mouth. I respect his 'freedom' of speech but I question how much better he felt after he made others feel so bad ?? I personally have only eaten at Rockford's Place twice. The 1st time, I got take out for 3 people. We got Soup, sandwich and a piece of cake, no drinks and it totaled $49.00. I too felt it was a little high. And yes, I could have walked out BUT, I was trying to SUPPORT A NEW BUSINESS IN OUR COUNTY, MY COUNTY, THE ONE I WANT PEOPLE TO BE PROUD TO WRITE ABOUT AGAIN!!! How wonderful it would be if we could lose our horrible nickname of M*&%enberg County !!!

You are free to disagree. Now, I should say that I have met a few people here that are decent...but most of the people here are exactly what I said. I loathe this place and will throw a party the day Im able to leave. Its sad that Im in a place where I dont evem want my children growing up...its disgusting. Most of the people in this county are nobody to be setting any sort of example for anyone. This place in itself is full of hate...and the racism here is RIDICULOUS!! Its 2009 and we have a county full of Jr. Klansmen. But thank you, Homegirl for a response with substance...I guess not all muhlenbergers are mentally challenged.

Sorry you all have made such bad moves in life that you are now stuck in our county, I have been to chicago, nice places there but you better know where your going, there is no place in our county, that i would not be scared to walk through at any hour of day, and if you can say that about chicago you are a liar! Rockfords place is classy for what they serve, it sounds like most of you have not been out of muhlenberg, you should try and save your money and atleast take a trip to henderson or bowlingreen and you would see that rockfords is a nice place, " for what they serve". If you cant afford it please dont put your family out by trying to spend above your means. Thanks. Oh yeah, maybe we could set a jar at rockfords and get enough for a few bus tickets out here, for all of you that are prisoners of your mistakes.

Thank you, Homegirl, for defending Muhlenberg County. I was born and raised there, and it didn't used to be this way. I graduated from the old Muhlenberg Central, in Powderly, in 1964, and as far as any of us knew, heavy drugs meant a visit to the bootlegger. We knew pot, etc., was out there, but it didn't have anything to do with us, or, at least, at that time it didn't. It, too, breaks my heart at all the meth labs they are finding, but when you have employment problems like you've traditionally had there, I guess stuff like this will pop up. This is why I haven't lived there since 1966. I didn't want to, but I realized that is I were ever going to have a better life, for myself and my family, it wasn't going to be there. This was why your remark about "supporting a new business" rang so true. These people undoubtedly sunk everything they had into that restaraunt, and are taking a big, big gamble that it may pay off. I wish them all the best of luck.

I read what this MikeJones wrote, if that's his real name, and feel that if he hates it there so much, then he needs to go on back to Washington, where he says he comes from. Well, that is, unless he's the guest of that nice new prison, there in Central City. As far as his remarks about "traler trash," I would just say that there are many, many good and decent people who live in trailers because that's the best they could afford. As far as the "trash" remark is concerned, that's a matter of opinion. One man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say. I lived in two of them, in the 1960's, and liked it just fine. I'm not trash, and never was. Perhaps Mr. Jones just doesn't know the difference. He's a big man, hiding behind an anonymous computer, but he wouldn't have the guts to stand face to face with any of the folks that he is insulting. Cowards are like that. Besides, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, and, most times, they just don't pass the smell test. Mr. Jones has one, and he, obviously, is one.

Sure, theres MANY places in Chicago, I wouldn't walk through at night... but I would also not want to walk around parts of Central City at night either... I've been to Bowling Green and Owensboro and Evansville NUMEROUS times.. and atleast there is somewhat of a civilization and decent breed of people. I shouldnt say EVERYONE is Muhlenberg County is "trash" as MikeJones puts it.. but a decent person here, is few and far between. Today at the store.. I seen a lady and her baby.. the lady was on the phone.. making an OBVIOUS drug deal...I mean, really? People here rock camo gear like its going out of style, and coming out in dirty rags and smelling of BO is just unacceptable in my book. I hate when people use the "oh thats all they can afford" line.. I dont care if I was dirt poor and had nothing, if Im going out in public.. Im going to be clean and showered. But that is besides the post of this whole post. Yes, I have been to Rockfords. Did I like it? Nope. Was it affordable? Surely. Will I go there again? No thank you. I dont see how some lil hole in the wall exerts class.. but I guess you and I have a different opinion of classy. Thats fine. We all can agree to disagree. Healthy debates are good for you.=)

No, Mike we're not all mentally challenged. Just the ones you're encountering apparently.
You're comments, while I'm sure they make you feel better, aren't really constructive. They are insulting and inflamatory.
If you want to express how 'backwards' we are, and what an unfit county this is and have it MEAN something - drop the nasty language and give us specifics on why our home isn't a suitable place for such a classy, well bred man as yourself.
Frankly, you write like a redneck....which makes all of your comments that much funnier - and worthless.

Still no comment on why you are stuck here! Bad moves in life, and your running down the only place your able to make ends meet. The henderson, bowlingreen thing was a joke, but i am proud of your big travels. Camo, well hunting just happens to be a huge part of our economy, and some are proud of their hobbies, you should try getting some type of hobbie! For the nasty, non bathing folks yeah pretty sick, but that is in all wal marts lol, just get the map out drop your finger and go to that wal mart and enjoy the circus! There is not one place in muhlenberg county that i would be scared to walk through at any time of day!

We are not a large city. We don't have upscale establighments. We lack conveniences of a large city. We get it. You used to live in Chicago and now living in a rural, economically depressed region is pissing you off. Again, we get it....but Rockford's is classy for THIS area. No it's not The Palm, or Ruth Chris...and we'll never have that here....but at least folks are working on the downtown area and trying to make it a nice 'square' and have events and attractions - which in turn will help the businesses, and maybe, just maybe - bring some growth.
Do we have a long way to go?
Sure
