Also, I noticed that neither of new hires had much experience, if I remember correctly less than 5 years for each. I am sure there are many more qualified people here in the county. Politics, favors being granted, backs being scratched.....
I didn't notice that but how could they be that qualified with such little experience? I'd say your right on. Politics, favors and this board tells McCarty what to do. It looks more and more like that was the reason this board selected him. He sure didn't have the experience in teaching or as a district leader so his selection was for that reason. Board wants control and to run some off and hire their friends. Certainly not fair for Muhl employees or what's best for the students. But the employees can't say anything because they will lose their jobs and they can't afford to do that.

Your little Mayberry is headed for trouble. When politics get in schools the first step in community disaster happens. Don't know the place but I specialize in research that determines what makes some communities strive while others perish. With all these posts I can determine that your town is a classical example of poor leadership and ego vengeful board members with agendas. This recipe for disaster always begins in schools and filters it's way through each entity in your county. Hopefully the voting public at your next election will send this group on their way. Your county schools most likely went through some major changes a few years back that were controversial and these type of people look for those opportunities to get into county leadership roles with the sole purpose of control and power. Your money reserves will be spent and unqualified people hired which will fester like an infection and spread like cancer. The future of your county is very dim at best. I've seen this time and time again in my research. Traditionally the community will sit back and not speak out and let the hierarchy keep control until it's too late. Good luck little rural county from Ky. Your community and children are going to need it.

The district has money budget problems? Then why do central office people, McCarty and Reynolds for example go to these big conferences they do and take their wives at district expense? I guess that's one of those unspoken perks.
ready fest bust

There are a lot of parents angry over ready fest yesterday. My home was first notified of the event at noon when an all call went out to parents from the board and Mr McCarty. The bad thing is Readyfest was over at 1. How in the world are parents expected to stop what their doing or leave work and get their kids ready and to the school in an hour? I am lucky to put food on the table for my children and I would have loved to received school supplies and needed materials that are given away in preparation for the beginning of school. I just wish the school district would get it together and do a better job of communicating to parents. I think the superintendent is new but anyone should know to call parents in advance of an event and not just an hour before it ends. When I called the board to ask why no one could give me a reason. Readyfest is good but it was communicated and organized very poorly.

There was a small little box in one of the newspapers this week that showed a link one could click on the see the past year's financial statement. I am not an accountant but the bottom line looked like the school district was operating in the red. The rest of the finances were like reading Greek (to me anyway). I was trying to find out how much was actually spent on academics and did not succeed. Also, the same newspaper showed the minutes of the last board meeting...there was a lot of money spent (mostly on Bremen's new little league park which still is a mystery) but I could not find one academic/educational dollar spent. What is going to happen when our community has no children that can pass the tests for college? Can the college counselors help with that?

I agree amazed. Not much happening for kids. Now I hear the board is going to change the voting districts so they can get re-elected. This move is going to put the screws to people who live anywhere except cc or Greenville. They are carrying out their agenda and nothing anyone will do about it. Who loses in the long run. OUR KIDS.

How ridiculous! How could the previous regime be spending money when they have been gone for over a year????? Even if some of the projects were approved before, the current board has the spending power in its hands...please stop referring to the former "regime," when tackling school board performance now! Let the blame lay where it belongs...to Richey and gang.

Don't forget about this board paying three superintendents at one time last fall, the new state of the art ballparks at Bremen, when they have county ballparks at west, a new assistant supt, two new counselors, additional secretaries for Randy and Reynolds so they can still do nothing, new suburbons, more football coaches,
New uniforms,$25K additional money for football, new assistant principals at each elementary school, another safety officer Mr Allen, plus the changes they made on the tech wing that cost over 1.5 million more dollars. And the list goes on and on so don't worry AMAZED. No one will buy the idea the previous regime did things wrong. In fact 90% of the county are sorry things changed. But the sad fact is all this will come back to effect our children's future and that is what parents should be upset about. School leadership from this board and superintendent is poor and very little money that has been spent is for kids.

What is all this redistricting uproar? If the county needs to redistrict, how can the school board delay it? I thought it interesting that Tarter said something about "sometimes" we just have to do what the law says....hahaha...sometimes????

How about Don and his three cronies? That is where the problem exist. Clean house with those who are making the decisions.

Here at Martin Hall for this mandatory opening day thing. I need to be in the classroom getting ready. This year sure started off well. Father Time Robert Reynolds the first speaker. If he's the best we got in leadership I think everyone needs to abandon ship.

I'm not a regular topic poster but I do want to say something. Today I dropped my son off at west campus. First day as a junior. Very impressed with the campus. Beautiful. I went to open house and heard of all the opportunities that my kid will have. I'm very thankful.
Five years ago I was in strong opposition to the high schools combining. Today I want to say thank you to the former board members and Mr Todd and all those who supported the merger. That group saw opportunity for our kids that many of us did not. Thank you guys.
I'm also concerned about today's board and how they are doing things. Superintendent, and board member leadership district wide is concerning. I just hope they don't destroy or tear down what others have done. Praying for a great school year in Muhlenberg County.
