Yeah poor ole Darrel Bowers. He can't get anything for the south elem kids. They have not got squat since Winters left. He just goes along with Don whose in total control. It's a shame he doesn't support kids in his entire district or school.

Amazed again!!!! How on earth does it cost over a quarter of a million dollars to build a little league baseball field? Heated and air-conditioned dugouts? Astroturf? A dome? Oh, I know! Reclining seats for the spectators!!!! I thought it consisted of a guy, a tractor with a blade, a chain link fence, and four bases! But then, I also believe that reading and math should be the only thing taught to grades K-3, too, so who am I to know anything?

Oh they will have much more than a quarter of a million in it I guarantee you that. This kind of field when you have parks at west where Little League will play their games? Makes no sense to me or anyone else. Look back over the past months since this board took office. You will find little discussion about student achievement or academics but we will have some nice ballparks in Bremen and spend the rest of our money on football. I heard yesterday McCarty and the new football coach were best friends. Guess that's why all this money is going that direction. Does this board not realize what people in the county and neighboring counties are saying about them? I honestly think they have to know but probably don't care because their egos and power hungry attitudes are multiplying. I guess Don has passed that trait on to his puppets.

I heard Carver's maintenance director job was going to be changed to a classified position and is listed that way on the posting. I guess anyone can apply. I wonder who Don has picked out for that job?

That is just crazy...it will have to be someone who does not have a certification, so you can bet he has someone in mind in order to change the requirements. What next?

Well I'm sick of this bunch of board members and it's evident their all in Dons pocket. He even brags to people how he controls things. He got the superintendent he wanted, the board attorney he wants, people cut money he wanted, people hired he wants, people run off he wanted, taxpayer money spent where he wants it, teachers threatened who don't conform, all the school insurance for his son, new ballparks at Bremen, and the sad thing is Tarter, Williams, and Bowers are so weak they go right along with it. Don and his band of puppets including McCarty has set this county up to fall flat on its face financially, moral wise, and our kids will suffer in future years. Do they even have a clue what citizens are saying about them? They have to hear it but I think they like the power and don't care about the kids. All decisions are based on adults not the children. Politics in school is a formula for student failure.

I heard the board went out of county to hire two new career counselors. Heard everyone who applied from the county was either not hired or not even interviewed and most had more experience. Same thing happen with food service director. It's a shame this board and McCarty feels this way about our own people.

Why would the county need career counselors when they just hired an assistant superintendent who is in charge of career counseling?

Good question. Looks like the money could of been put to better use. I thought Jan Yonts already worked with kids on careers. One new counselor hired was Venita Ray's daughter in law who taught in Hopkins County. See the connection? Venita real good friends with Tricky Ricky Carver at Bremen and she also is great friends with Don Richey. So you can see the connection and understand why people working in our own system were passed over. Hiring more people is not the answer. Better instruction will get kids prepared much better than a counselor telling them what classes to take. I honestly don't know what all this assistant supt and two counselors will be doing. Don't students get career or college ready by having good teachers? I can't believe this board has not had to answer to why they are spending taxpayer money so foolishly. It all started about this time last year with that fancy hit man interim supt Fentress somebody and the board hasn't stopped spending money like it grows on trees. I'm surprised more people don't demand answers for some of their actions.

Someone who does not have any connections to anyone in Muhlenberg, who is not employed by the school board, is the only one who could demand answers. Everyone else knows that to demand answers would mean the loss of their jobs or the jobs of loved ones.

I'm afraid your correct and outsiders don't really care to get involved. My family caution me all the time to not ask questions because they are fearful they would lose their jobs. Every one knows this is an agenda driven board but no one seems to care about how these actions will eventually filter down to our children who will be the ultimate losers.

I really do think people care, but at the same time, when you have to put food on the table for those kids, parents choose to keep their mouths closed and keep their jobs. It is just a shame that the current board has put the education of our children on the back burner to take care of themselves.

Well as predicted by my board member heads continue to fall. This board member told me that himself. Diane Bowles a curriculum specialist at Longest kicked out to make room for Lila McCarty's best friend Sarah Armour to take her place. They even make the position an assistant principal position (which pays lots more money) than what Bowles made as curriculum specialist. Bowles was knifed in the back by her own principal Mr Hardison and her supposed friend Assistant Superintendent Robert Reynolds just because Randy and Lila wanted to take care of their friend. Sad treatment to a hard working lady who gave her educational life to Longest. Oh well this board member told me this would happen but he didn't know I was friends with the Bowles family. When I asked how many years of experience this new assistant principal had he said around 5. How can a superintendent put someone in such an important position with such little experience and force some one out like Bowles who had over 30 years? It's called power and taking care of your friends and lets not even consider what's best for the school or it's kids. NEWS FLASH: This board and McCarty just lost another supporter. I'm sick of what is happening to our schools in Muhlenberg County and am ashamed of people like McCarty , Reynolds, Hardison and this current board for their actions.

I needed a transcript from the Muhl board. Drove from Owensboro yesterday. Called before I left. Was told the office would be open till 4. Arrived before 3 and no one there. Office closed. What a pathetic system. Needed my transcript before Monday so now I'm screwed. Thanks a lot whoever is in charge there.

Why did no one from Muhl Co get the career counselor jobs? According to the Leader News one lady from Hopkins Co and one from Webster got the two positions. Seems odd to me.

Also, I noticed that neither of new hires had much experience, if I remember correctly less than 5 years for each. I am sure there are many more qualified people here in the county. Politics, favors being granted, backs being scratched.....
