It would actually be a shorter list on what isnt the problem...I am wondering if there are other parents concerned about the way our special needs children are not receiving the so called free public education that all the other children get...I have had to fight for my child since he started school.

I had a problem with a teacher at longest. I walked in and caught her screaming at the top of her lungs at my 3rd grader and had him backed into the corner while he was crying so hard he was shaking all because a boy took his jacket and he took it back. I was beyond furious & set up a meeting with the principle only to be told my son was a problem child even though he had NEVER been in trouble in his life or sent to the principles office. I had to change his school because they refused to put him in a different class. I went to the board of education only to be told they would investigate but it would be confidential and I wouldn't get to find out what happened. How jacked up is that. If I known how they would of treated me & my son I would of just went with my first instinct and bounced her head off the desk and did my first time in jail & got it over with. The school system & board of education are a JOKE here.

I got to agree with ya. Dealing with the public who think they know your job better than you do is a pain, although I do enjoy putting them in their place when I start asking them questions about their qualifications. Funny stuff!!!!
I believe their qualifications are looking out for the welfare of their child, something you don't seem to care about.

I dont know what happened with u child but our school system does need an over hall. I wish the state would have come and took over like they threaten to. We do have some very good teachers in the county but not enough. I know u have to take the bad with the good but it should be a least half good. It is about the kids learning not who is friends with who.

Each year there is more conflict within the schools, there is an increase in juveniles being involved in the Court System, and there is increase crime in school via the students and staff. The school has a budget that increases each year; however, the students do not benefit from the increase spending. Students are not provided with textbooks but rather have to share books in the classroom. If they do science projects or other activities within the course lessen, the students are required to pay for these expenses. There has been a rapid increase of drug use in the school by students and teachers. The schoolsÂ’ resource officers investigate crimes of drug use, sexual abuse, and child abuse via teachers/staff; however, never report the allegations/findings to the proper authorities. Teachers are terminated for having sexual relations with students, providing students with alcohol, abusing drugs, etc.; however, because these reports are not forwarded to law enforcement and social services and documented appropriately, these teachers can gain employment through others counties/states and continue to place children at risk of harm. There appears to be an increase of hate. Students are bullying other students and staff. Children go to school in fear daily. If they choose to not go to school then they are at risk of having truancy charges filed in Court. If they go to school and try to take up for themselves, again they will have charges filed in Court. It appears that our children are being failed daily by our school officials and community.

She should have went into law enforcement instead of Elementary Ed! She's a child's nightmare!
I have had to deal with Southerland before and that woman has some serious issues. She is the most rude person I have ever meet or had to deal with, I couldn't wait for my child to go to the middle school. Now 2 years later my other child has her as a teacher, & nothing has changed. When your child loves school but comes home crying because of the teacher everyday then something is wrong. She makes her pick at the first of the year and those not in her little click are treated like shit for the rest of the year & yea talking to Freeman isn't any better. Greenville has a handful of really good teachers but the rest of them are a pain in the ass & makes the good ones look bad. You never really know how your kids are treated while at school but I know first hand that the kids are mistreated and even looked down on. I worked at that school and was completely blown away at what goes once all the parents are gone & the teachers take over. But no matter how hard you try to make a difference or how hard you try to get help, it back fires. We pay for our kids to school and recieve an education, to learn everything possible and use that to get somewhere in life, not to be treated like criminals or like trash. They are screamed at, made fun of by the teachers and put on the spot in front of everyone and be-littled. The school system acts like they are running a prision instead of teaching kids. Then everyone wonders why they are getting into trouble, getting on drugs & drinking, or even worse hurting one another or themselves! Maybe its to ease the pain of how they are really being treated in our school systems! Nobody really cares unless its one of their kids are being mistreated but when you report it, its swept under the rug and your child suffers even more!! If you can't get your principal to do anything and the school board won't do anything then maybe they are better off being home schooled. If more parents pulled their kids out and they started to lose money, MAYBE they might get off their asses and get to the bottom of the shit and HELP THE STUDENTS!!!!
