Back in late 70'S, a friend and I were walking down the railroad one day. We saw what appeared to be a lifeless body an 1/8 mile away or so. The body was lying across the tracks. As we got up close, maybe 30 feet, we looked at each other and said "he is dead". We walked a little closer, Grinner turned and said "howdy boys". We said hey and kept walking.

I used to tease my little boy about Grinner. When we'd see him out walking I'd say "Steven there's your daddy"! He would laugh and say "No it's not"! He knew who his daddy was and it wasn't Grinner. Lol. Stevens no longer with us either.

James Martin, his sister, and dad were all accepted into one of the local rest homes a few years ago, Belle Meade I think it was. That's the last I saw of them.

I remember when Grinner was no longer allowed into Druther's because of his smell. They made him go through the drive-thru.
I miss Druther's.

Grinner used to sleep in the doorway of one of the drug stores up town. The owners got tired of it and asked him to move on....Grinner refused so they called the police. He dropped his pants and left a stinky present right in front of the door.
