I was told this is a drug addiction & other addictive problems, sent my daughter their .I live in another state. Can anyone tell me if this is a good program.I was told by the overseer they dont darl with the addiction so much as traing them in the lord & focusing on scripture / leting the holy spirit work in that persons life. Which I have absolutely no problem with .I just havent heard form her & know they arent allowed phone calls or visits for 2 months. But she hasnt written any family mwmber & was sent their with pens ,postage stamps,& stationary .Are they only telling me she is allowed to write? Do they read their mail as well. Iam a mother concerned about their program. Please can anyone give me information, about this place& be honest ,especially if you have been or worked their

Yes this a great program, I have been through the crossville tenn mission teen center and yes u can write and recieve letters and they do not read your mail unless it is not from a family member or pastor! But the letters u send as a parent they do not read! It by far changed my life! It will change theirs too as long as they stay and finish! They can not call for 2 months and it's worth the wait to! The first two months r the crucial, they don't need no outside influences weather it be friends or family! I helps them to trust in god and make right decisions! I hope I have helped!

Thank you very much. I actually live near crossville & am a chlid of God, my husband is a minister. I was hoping for the feed back that you have given me. & do agree that the no contact for 2 months is the best thing for my daughter. She had battled her addiction for many years & never ask for help until Easter. She is so sweet, & beautiful inside & out, yet the drugs had a tremendous hold on her life. She is 38 about 4 years ago, her situation escalated, into a road traveled that no one would ever willing want to take knowing what her out come would have taken her into. She chose to go their herself, not taking a 30 day program. So I felt really positive that she choose the 8-10 month program. Her addiction was very severe, most people would have died from what she, or shall I say Satan wanted of her. She lost everything, husband, children home a 14 year job in an accounting firm. She accomplished all this from age of 21 to 4 years ago, is when her life was spinning out of control. My daughter bought her 1st home & car by herself before she ever married. Has known the lord many years, but a contoling marriage took control of her life & that's how it began. Please pray for her. Her addiction from opiates became intravenous. Yet God, is truly. Working in her life, she has submitted to christ. Keep us in your prays & her. God Bless You for your post.

I was going to post a response to your question days ago! Mission Teens is a joke, complete joke! It is true faith based programs are the most effective for drug rehabilitation, but the idea behind mission teens is that once you have been clean for a few months you become a counselor for some of the new ones coming in. In my opinion it takes someone twice the amount of time being clean before they even have the ability to be a counselor. If you used drugs for 2 years then it would be 4 years of being clean before you are in a place to counsel or set an example. The truth about mission teens is that the more experienced counselors/users take advantage of the new people to still be able to get their fix. It was true a few years ago when the lady who ran this place was arrested for drugs! Those that truly love the person who goes to rehab are the ones who end up getting the blame for that persons addiction, it is crazy. They go from one extreme to the next, using drugs to praying over the most redundant things. Why pray over whethet or not to use an ink pen with blue or black ink? There are no limitations to mission teens so anyone with even the most extreme of views are allowed to volunteer their time.... Would not advise anyone at all to go period! The court in Muhlenberg used to recommend mission teens as their number one choice when dealing with those who abuse drugs, but not anymore! Sorry this happened to you!

My nana goes there and preaches sometimes. They have karaoke there on fridays. Ive only been there a few times but I can say this the people that go there are trying to better themselves by finding God. And as for people there still using drugs everyone ive seen there looks pretty clean to me (I know from experience). If I knew that my child was there I would pray that they find peace so they can better them selves.

It's a good place for ppl seeking for help and have hit rock bottom. It's for people that want help...you aren't sent there seeking God. But in the end God will put his arms around and help those who need it. It's a very great program and if there's one in your community try to help them out by bringing things like toilet paper, food, cleaning supplies. Just anything will help them out.

Well at least they are trying to help the young adults. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure but that is water under the bridge for the residents there. Pray for them and like the above post reads. Donate items to help them if you are able. Do your part and God will help with the rest.

Are you allowed to send letters if you're not immediate family?

I have been to this program, although I only stayed one week, and I left. I am a Christian, but I felt it to be a little too extreme. They allow too many radical type Christians to come in and teach/preach, and a few of them were too political & very religious, creating divisions socially & culturally. For sure, if I had a daughter, or a gay/lesbian child, I would NOT recommend them to this center. There is not much love & support here for this type of child/adult. At least two of the speakers were strongly & openly opposed to President Obama, and it was just too extreme. So just be careful, this program may be for some, but it is not for everyone.

For sure, if I had a daughter, or a gay/lesbian child, I would NOT recommend them to this center. Women & girls here are really oppressed, and one focus from a teacher was that they should allow their male counterparts to be superior to them. "They are the weaker sex" it was said about women, and I did not feel comfortable with this. There is not much love & support here for this type of child/adult. Another teaching included a photo posted on a projector screen that is almost too extreme for me to put into words here, so I won't. At least two of the speakers were strongly & openly opposed to President Obama, and it was just too extreme. Again, I am a Christian, but I am more liberal & progressive type Christian, and although not all elements of their program were uncomfortable for me, many of them were, and certainly enough that I requested to leave. So just be careful, this program may be for some, but it is not for everyone.
