Baby, Saying you are a Christian and actually being one are two different things.

As for the collector, we give because God loves a cheerful giver and that is in the Bible. One thing I have found in my later years is that God blesses me when I am a giver. It just works that way. You have to have an understanding of how spiritual things work.

big stevie you say you are still a member of the 2ond baptist have you sent your 10% lately we sure could use it .
I know that you're being facetious, and I get the joke, but I've been gone from there for 45 years. Does it look like they could use my tithe? From what I've seen, over the last 60 years, they're doing just fine without me. Let me have my little belief, if you would, and God bless you, too.

No to the lady who started this crap. 2nd Baptist is not a cult. But if you're looking for one try the Mormons on down the road. You can look online to find the secret hand shakes and words they use. You'll be one step ahead to enter the Celestial room. Plus you'll get a new name so the devil want know who you are. That kind of stuff is what one may call a cult. I have heard at 2nd they just preach all have sinned and come short of God. ALL, everyone, me.

P.S. Sorry to any Mormon that may take offense using you as a cult example. You where the first cult I could think of.

Thank you, Devil, for the Democrat's Rebuttal. You may now go back to hell. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.....

My family looked for a long time for a church that we felt comfortable in and not like an outsider when we were there. We found that church in Second Baptist Church in Greenville. Brother Ray and Brother Bob are very special and knowledgeable in the bible. I learn from them all the time. This church is like family and no we are not perfect and we do not claim to be, but we help each other.
Isn't that what a church is suppose to do teach about God and the Bible and help each other and all the people of the community. We are a very strong church and that is because of the grace of God.

Maybe we all need to pray for Bill Mahr. It is a shame when someone so intelligent is yet so stupid. Ignorance can be taught, but stupidity lives on forever.
I absolutely agree with every word you said!

This is the kind of comment that makes the comments about judging in the first place. Whether or not we are Christians has nothing to do with our being able to voice an opinion on any subject. The Christian should be influenced on their opinion by what is the best for all involved but being a child of the living God has never, will never, and cannot ever make us perfect or give us the ability as humans in a fallen world to do or say what is always "Christian" and right. We , as humans, are influenced by emotion, need, anger and so many other things in what we say and do. I myself will continue to live as there is an Almighty God and die to find out there isn't than to live as there is not and die and find out there is!!

There's a difference between being religious and being spiritual.

A christian believes with all their heart Jesus died to save us and that we Will see Him when we die. It is not just about living right, although if we belive we will try to do the right things.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience with a church member. Look, no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. You must realize that by posting this you are also judging, you may call all of this fact but at the end of the day you are still passing judgment. My advice to you is to seek out a personal relationship with God and work that out first. Once you take that step focus on a church that is right for you, maybe second baptist isn't right for you. Always remember the "church" is not a building its the people in the building. With that said people are different, people interpret the Bible in different ways. People also have a way of justifying things that they do and condemn others on things that they don't do. I believe this is a more human nature issue less christian. I hope you have better experiences in the future and good luck.
1. People are turned away who have abused services in the community.
2. That's like saying you don't want to go to a gym because some people who go there are out of shape.
3. People are not perfect, Christ is. To worship another god is the definition of a cult, not having imperfect people.
4. It always feels like judgment when we are the ones caught doing something we know is wrong. We are still called to try to help make life better for people by holding them accountable instead of enabling them.
5. There are issues with promiscuity inside and outside of the church, sorry to say. You can either try it alone out in the world, or have support when bad times comes and you've blown it. People need to find forgiveness and healing, and they can do it there. We can't control everything members do any more than parents control what kids do. We do teach right and wrong.
6. Among most churches I know of in the community, we are not a legalistic church with a lot of rules, but the Bible is still the Bible and God does have standards that are supposed to make life the most grand it can be. They aren't ever set to "limit" us, but to give us real life.
7. Stop making excuses and get to a church...it's the best thing you'll ever do.
