How do we know that this death wasn't caused by the Cal-fire backfire that caused the evacuation? I know a family that was never contacted to evacuate even though the Cal-Fire caused fire was in their backyard in the middle of the night. Maybe this person who died was never contacted either. Maybe it didn't have anything to do with this person not wanting to evacuate. Why doesn't anyone thank the firefighters for starting a backfire on the windiest night they could find? The same fire that burned down 40 houses and killed a person. I think it is great that Cal-Fire takes credit for fires going out on there own because of wind changing direction or running into natural barriers or rain but somehow people never notice that 99 houses burned to the ground and Cal-Fire could not or did not do anything to protect them.

Is it 99 houses? Hmm, I hadn't heard it was that high. Have you seen the numbers for how many were threatened? It's actully a pretty good ratio, I think. I understand that for the people who lost their homes it's not so good. Really though, I've heard many of them express appreciation for the the effort the firefighters are making.
How do you not know to evacuate if the fire is that close. Since the fires started I have been covering the fire progress on the news, internet, and even in the grocery store. How does it get right to your backyard and you not have any clue? Middle of the night or no, I would be up paying attention. I know we did it when my sisters home was threatened. We had everything packed already and ready to go. Then just watched and waited to see if the fire got closer. When the smoke started getting denser we left. Calfire made a line and stopped it a mile before it got to her house.
I do believe Calfire made a mistake but villifying them doesn't help and doesn't help raise peoples spirits. I think they are doing the best job they can against a major natural disaster.

I guess you are one of those ďRealistsĒ that has never been a Firefighter. They work in the most extreme conditions under tremendous stress. Have you ever worked in 105 degree heat, with long sleeves, thick leather gloves and a helmet with Nomex wrapped around your face on? Have you ever been the person standing between an oncoming fire and homes, with only hand tool such as a Pulaski in your hands? Do you have any experience, real or schooled, in Fire Science? Iím betting not by what you wrote. Backfires are the only way to fight large wildland fires when it is so smoky that all of the aircraft are grounded. And you donít light a backfire unless the fire is going to burn the area anyway. Cal-Fire did so something to save those homes.

Wow, you know a couple of firefighter words. Pulaski, neat-o, wooooowweeeeee. I have another neat word - BLEVE. Oh my goodness doesn't that sound cool. It takes someone who actually is or was a firefighter, to be able to read between the lines, that the media have regurgitated, from the crap Janet Upton or some other propagandist fed them. The bottom line is that Cal-Fire screwed up and they caused the houses in Concow to burn. It isn't the first time that has happened and it isn't the first time the public has been to stupid to realize it.

The fire was probably an excuse for the firefighters to go looking for pot gardens. It was in Concow, after all.

I know that it is an old post by the plague but "contained" HA that fire was not really contained when I drove in there a 2weeks ago.

Realist from Toledo: Look up the meaning of acronyms and other big words before you use them. There may be many pressurised tanks in your world but where the fire blew up above Concow to create this there was nothing but trees and brush.

Why don't you use your spellcheck and your brain Tubbo? Plenty of tanks blew up in Concow during the fire and I know exactly what BLEVE means. At the time I was making a point to another moron.
