Iím putting together a story about the old Georgiana Bottling plant that existed in the 1930s and 1940s. They bottled Dr Pepper and Barqs. You may have seen my ad in the Greenville Advocate.

Do you know of anyone that may have any pictures or know anything about it?

Was the article by Jerry on the bottling plant in Georgiana ever written? Devon Evers is my dad and he worked there when he was 17 years old. I would love to read the story.

Sorry to change the subject but I'm looking for distant relatives who might be able provide some information. My GG grandfather, John J. Gay joined the 33d Alabama infantry in the war for Southern Independance in Georgiana. His mother was Elizabeth Gay,siblings are William and Delilah. I have all of the history of John from that time on, but am looking for any info that might identify John's fatherand why he is not listed in the 1850 census.

Wayne ,
The old Bottling plant was located on the litle street that runs beside the Railroad Tracks .If you know where The Hank Williams Music Park is today the building would have been around the area of The Caboose and The Pavilion . The buildings caught fire one night when I lived in Hank's Boyhood Home , I placed Hank's Boyhood Home on The Alabama Historical Register in 1991-92 . I have a few of those bottles .They even had Orange Crush in a dark brown bottle . Sorry that I do not have any pictures . But maybe someone will come up with some . I still live in Georgiana and have found out a few things about this busy little town from years gone by .

Jerry, I know there were at least 3 bottling plants in Georgiana, one was a coke plant, I did have bottles, and most likely still have them, several people might help on information that still live in Georgiana, that was born in the 20's and 30's. If I can help let me Know, Im the Chief of Police in Georgiana.
