Drink city water

I gladly drink the city water every day. I do not know what kind of awards that they won but I saw them being given to them in the Greenup news. Also, do not be critical of the water plant boys. They are nice guys who work hard.Frank Whorsley has also been working for Greenup some, he used to run the Water Plant for Ashland, so he should be well qualified.

I wouldn't have a problem with paying higher prices for city water if it were drinkable. The City of Ashland Waste Water Treatment Plant puts cleaner water back into the Ohio River then what the City of Greenup gives it's customers to drink. Ask Mr. McCall. He is a former operator from Ashland. He knows that on any given day the water that Ashland puts back into the river is cleaner then what we drink here in the city.
Maybe if they would fire the fools at the water plant and hire people that knew what they were doing it would be drinkable water. And please, don't come back with those "awards" that you have won. We also got letters telling us how out of compliance you were too.

Just out of couriosity how much is that new guy makin? Don't council set his pay since he is not a union man? Also why is it lundie always complains about stuff donna does? does he not know that it is up to the council to stop things that they say aren't right. do we want to elect lundie when he can't do what he was put in as a council member to do. does lundie not know what to do as mayor or council member. seems to me that we need people that understands how the goverment works and not sit back and just let it all happen. what about those nasty places on perry street? i have heard for the past several years they going to clean it up. more than likely us taxpayers will pay for it and never collect it back. better do some serious thinking this election. i haven't quite made my mind up yet on mayor. its a very hard thing to do. why don't council ever vote to see what department everyone is getting paid from and what the gross pay and overtime hours are? would think any council member would want to see this. why aren't the council asking for this for every meeting. are you really interested in the city or not. i do no that donna can only do what the council allows. whats up with you council people? the city looks very nice and i do like what she has done with it. fireworks and other activities that she has planned is great. a wonderful community effort. do you council members get involved and help with that also? didn't see any council people at the fireworks. Why? don't run the mayor in the ground until you can prove that you are there to help our community. if she is spending money on things she shouldn't, let her know about it and try and come up with the money to keep these activites, fireworks, christmas, ect., going.

It starts at 517 Laurel Street on the right had side going into Greenup and continues to the railroad track. The house at 517 use to be owned by Gary Wright, the white trash landlord of Greenup County. He could care less what his properties look like as long as he gets his cash monthly.

First off, this address is not Perry Street.
You specified that this would be on Perry Street.

And to the person that says this is off topic, GFYS.

It shows that the current Mayor really doesn't care if there are trash bin housing in the City. If she did, she would have recommended legislation to force slum lords to keep up their property up to some type of code or standard, even if our City does need to set that standard.

So this isn't off topic at all. Just shows that the Mayor doesn't care except the city building and around her home.

Sorry about that mix up. I saw "nasty places" mentioned and automatically thought Laurel Street. I drive into town on Laurel and it can be classified as "nasty" also. I'm not on Perry execpt from the old post office building to Harrison there by the old elem. school. I know that the city council has ordinences to clean up the city but the Mayor wont make the police enforce the ordinences. Unless it has been repealed there is also an ordinence to ban pickup trucks from parking in the diagonal parking spaces around the court house but this has never been enforced either. The city council is in charge of making the ordinences but it's the Mayors job to see that the police officers enforce the them. And this is NEVER done.

Agreed...

Something should be done.

And no, my earlier reply was not mean. It makes a point. Make sure what you are posting is FACT. You may not agree to the tatics used but it does get the truth out and these type of stories (true ones) are in need to be heard.
The Current mayor has a proven track record that if it doesn't harm her or her cronies then it is ok.
What about the house that has the bunch of Dogs and Cats running around on Laural Street. Same situation different causes but still needs to be enforced and cleaned up.

I will say this, back when Sgt.Cochran was the CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER things did improve. Why did the Mayor remove this from him IDK but in other ways all three of our officers have CODE ENFORCEMENT powers but either elect not to use them or have been instructed not to. You decide.

These are issues that need to be talked about. These issues are about the living conditions in our City. Why should East Main to White Oak Crossing be treated any differently then Laural Street, Perry Street or Lois Ave. These run downed areas need the Cities attention too. Improve the area, show you care and it will also help curb the drug problem because this will let the neighbors care about what happens on their street. It is all about caring. If you care that there are people selling drugs two houses up from your house then
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! Believe me, the current Mayor doesn't care or she would be out there doing something about it.

Not to sound like that I don't care about drunk drivers and such, these types of mud slinging posts do nothing but to cloud the issues that need to be brought out.

Lets keep the posts on the issues and stop the mud slinging. Sling mud just makes things covered over and they never get properly addressed. Like the ran down areas of OUR CITY. This is OUR CITY not the Mayors. She just lives here but does have the power to help.

Get off your ASS Donna. There is more to this City than planting flowers.

I will tell you why. Because 95% of the people entering and leaving Greenup use these two roads and that is all that matters to her. She is a Mayor for the few she fills has the most power. If you have nothing to give to her or to help her cause then to hell with you. Just look at the campain signs. Who's yards are they in. Hewlett's are in the yards she fills has the power and Meadows are in the yard of the common people. I say there are more common people than power people in Greenup. Meadows might not be elegant when it comes to public speaking but he gives a damn about his town. He will be a hard worker and there is a lot more people supporting him than the "upper crust" of Greenup think. Think wise Greenup. Not to long ago we had a mayor that was not the public icon we all wanted and he said a lot of things that a lot of us did not like but he was a damn good mayor and I wished we had him back. Meadows will work just as hard for all of us as he did.

I couldn't have replied better.

I was just wondering if she is reelected if Mayor Hewlett plans on incorporating Route 1. When I came home from foodfair this morning there was a Donna Hewlett for Mayor sign on Rt. 1 in the first curve across from the Bradley boys trailor. Use to be the Murnahan place. I don't know who lives there now.

In my own humble opinion, I think the City of Greenup needs to annex East to the Wurtland line, West to Coal Branch Road South out Rt 2 to W-Hollow and out Rt 1 to W-Hollow.and everything North of the W-Hollow Road. Out Whetstone Road 1 mile with a line running from W-Hollow across the river to the one mile out Whetstone (following the property lines involved) and straight across to the top of the ridge between Whetstone and Coal Branch back to US 23. And then Develop develop develop.

I enjoy the flowers as I walk through town. They bring color to our historic downtown. I also notice the lack of weeds in town as I drive home. The city building and park have never looked so good. If you noticed today, the Mayor was cleaning the town with the inmates. She takes pride and works hard keeping the town look good. It is like any other city and has a few problem areas, but it is a lot cleaner than our neighbors .The only council person that I see helping her is Mr. Mantz. I have never seen the other ones working.

Close your eyes and count the coins it takes for an employee to be with the prisoners to keep the city clean. I agree I like to see everything neat and clean but you have to do it responsibly. The city should NEVER pay overtime to keep the grass mowed.

Did you happen to notice the closer to election time it gets the more you see her out and about?

Really... she has been paying overtime for three years for people to babysit prisoners on the weekend and she gets out a month before the election and takes them around to pick up trash. That's supposed to change my mind? Good Try. I'm not for Meadows I'm against Hewlett. I ask you to say NO to Hewlett on Nov. 2.
