"Desperation of church and state" Is that a Freudian slip? Are you desperate for a pint?

t. What I think we need is to shut down McDonald's, the fast food restaurants and Giovanni's with all the heart disease and obese people in greenup co. All you bible thumpers who didn't want beer sales but its ok for your gluttony obese butts to waddle in to feed your welfare faces in McDonalds or Giovannis but god forbid you sale a beer.

Why are all bible thumpers gluttons and on welfare? That isnt my experience. maybe some. Actually if all bible thumpers were on welfare it would make supporting churches financially difficult.

Because a vote said Greenup County remains dry does not mean the people of Greenup County do not drink.

Greenup will never change, People are so close minded. Happy to sit on their back side and watch life go by. It's so sad. Our kids leave this town if they want anything out of life, if not they hang around and make baby's for the state to raise, get on pills, end up in jail. But all you 'Good ' people of Greenup fight against alcohol, Have off you commit adultery, lie, cheat on your taxes but you don't want people to know, Sorry to tell up up tight people, God knows what you are, what you do.But save face fight against alcohol.

Oh well I'll keep spending my money in Ohio. Since I have to go that far to get beer, I might as well get my groceries there too and gas and clothes. Greenup sucks!

Go to Ohio, West Virginia, wherever you desire...buy all you want, but know that it will not feel your void or make you feel any better. Hate, complain and put down, but do it quick because the day is coming when your misery will catch up with you.. It's then you'll be asking for a bible thumping glutton to stand between you and a Holy God...Judge Not Lest you be Judged.

That's dumb. No one buys their clothes or groceries in Greenup. The majority of us have been doing that shopping in other counties from the jump.

It's not about the drive to get booze. It's about the money that our money is basically donating to everywhere else by not buying things here. When will that get through your thick skull?

The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do.

I don't care either way. both sides exaggerate their claims. Anyone who thinks alcohol sales would bring economic viability, stability and more importantly good jobs is far off base. Greenup Counties location, population and access just doesn't warrant any large companies wanting to locate here.
Considering if you want a better life for your family, moving is an option.
Any taxes made off some alcohol sales would primarily find a way to be wasted on those who work and distribute the wealth.
One way to better the tax base on a local level for those concerned about the way of life, a good fix is to have the Property Value's accessed at actual value. People who bought homes, farms years ago paying very little in actual value say as in the event they wanted to sell. Tighten the belt at all state and county jobs within the county. I guarantee less work force could produce more if actually not sitting on their rear ends or loafing. This saves on salary, ins, retirement benefits.
Have you seen jobs at any county office where you think it is overpaid and overstaffed?

As far as the alcohol, I don't see the harm in selling it, but it is not the answer, nor the beginning of anything great for GC.
