What is up with the school lunches, my child came home starving, saying the breakfast and lunch was awful, both days. They change the lunch and breakfast menus, raised the prices. Why doesn't GC have totally free lunch and breakfast, like others in KY? What has other children said about the lunch and breakfast? Hoping it's just not my child complaining. I guess I'll be packing lunches!

New regulations, but check out Fairview, carter and boyd's menus. They have the same regulations, but their lunches and breakfast menus are much better. Why?

I don't have any children the Greenup County district, but I have students that work for me. Their first day of school and I heard they were awful and not enough food to eat. They said it was pathetic and they were going to have to pack lunches to get anything to eat.
just sayin!

It's not Greenup county's fault they have to do what state tell them! Everyone should be complaining to state ppl its not the cooks fault. I get tired of hearing about obesity! I say let kds have a normal breakfast and lunch and bring back P.E our kids aren't getting enough exercise and that's why obesity is a issue with children and adults. Yes u have to eat healthy but if your not moving ur ass it doesn't matter what we eat!!!!

I know my boys came home and were starving! They said the food tasted awful and they give you small portions. My kids arent picky eaters so if they wont eat it something definately is wrong. I talked to some others mothers at different schools and they said their kids were complaining too. Its gonna be a long year....and besides that raising the prices too for stuff that the kids wont eat!

My child goes to the hs as well and came home starving both days, the food looks discusting and not fit to eat, not to mention they don't get enough to even fill them up. I am sorry but I am tired of hearing about obesity in children. My kids are being punished for kids being overweight. Parents need to start being parents and make you kids go outside and quit playing the video games

You polks complaining probably voted straight Democrat, too. The changes in school menus is a government mandate brough to you by a bunch of micro managing bureaucrats. Haven't you heard, due to the new rules, the prices for school lunches is going up too. The Government's tentacles keep seeping into our lives and nobody cares until "Little Johnny" doesn't get a cheeseburger and fries. This is just the start of more to come unless things get changed at the ballot box.

How is it a state problem when Carter county is getting free breakfast and lunch no matter what your income is and they're getting good meals to boot. Last time i looked Carter County was still in this state.

I'm not saying I agree with the lunch menu! I have kids in Greenup school system as well. My gripe is this- I get tired Of hearing about obesity! When I was in school the lunch menus were basically home cooked meals and there were a few people over weight but not like today! But we had recess and got exercise! Kids today and most grown ups sit on their asses all day and play games, computer, or phones! We have to eat healthy yes!!!! But u also have to exercise!!!!! So the state needs to look at the real big issue and put more physical exercise back into our schools !

Take the video games away from your kids so they can get out, exercise and play and we will give your kids more than cold turkey and warm milk to eat at school… looks like someone called Jamie Oliver behind your backs...

My kid is skinny but eats a ton of food, mostly healthy stuff but not always. What they are serving now won't even carry her through the afternoon. You can all thank the Obamas for another stupid project. One more example of too much government trying to control things because they seem to think we're too stupid to feed our kids appropriately. This time the schools are held hostage because if they don't do it, they stand to lose federal funding. Vote these idiots out in November!

My girls are in elementary school and are not picky eaters by no means. Like everyone else they came home and couldn't wait to eat dinner. On top of that I'm footing the bill for the 3.00 a piece for garbage X 2. 6 bucks a day for 180 days (round about instructional days) is $1080.00
Thats what is the most rediculous. 1000 bucks. to feed a kid bird seed. We're packin lunches for my girls and attending the next board meeting for sure.

Heaven forbid that they are actually healthy and athletic! But just like so many on here you have to look for someone to insult.
Hope it made you feel better showing us what an idiot you are.

Yes, there are new rules for lunches, but I think there are foods to add to menus that are not being given to children. Namely, because the ones in charge of food programs say the cost must be considered! I say bull to that. Quit buying all of the prepared frozen items and get some people that can COOK! You CAN fix a healthy lunch and make it enough to fill a child and not break the bank! I tried to tell people when I worked, but was told kids did not want that type of food! So, it was chicken nuggets, strips, patties, and other forms of frozen things. I get sick thinking about what I had to serve to children, and I know they were hungry 15 min. later!
