Why WSAZ and the Ashland Daily not talking to the jailor. He should be answering the question on the death of this person. He should been at the jail when he was found. Is Neil Wright running the jail.

It is funny the family was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get the autopsy results back. How can the state police release this information with the results are not in. This is kinda fishy. Plus they didnt even tell the family. They found out on the internet.

I called the coroner and he told me he did not have the autopsy report and told me that wsaz was quoting the state police not him and he gave me their number. I will let you know what they tell me.

If the gentleman was at home and got sick perhaps his wife would have got him to the hospital. The jail and Mike are responsible for the care and well being of their inmates. I didn't hear anything about the autopsy saying there was alcohol or drugs in his system did they? Isn't that what he was arrested for?I see a civil suit coming mike's way.Natural cause What exactly was the cause?Natural doesn't nean drugs or alcohol. Perhaps the man was a diabetic or some other illness that actually needed medical treatment and NOT jail.

no jailer anywhere cab sit in each cell 24/7. it happens all the time. check this out: http://www.14wfie.com/story/13095890/man-arre...

Plus if there was another inmate in the cell and someone was showing signs of being to the point of passing away the would holler for help.
im not takig up for the jailer, dont even know him. but at least he wasnt beat like some have been in boyd co and died.

If the man was not beaten and was of natural cause its not anyones fault, NATURAE causes,If the man was asleep even if they looked in on him he would have looked to be asleep. They do not have to check for a pulse every hour. Its bad the man had to pass in jail Im sure its noy making iy easier on the family,

Even if the poor man was incarcerated when he should have been attended to medically, wouldn't that b the judgement of the arresting officer----- not Mike?? I don't think anything was done maliciously. Cops around hear r just so GUNG-HO when it comes to DUI arrest. They assume anyone that seems to b impaired is messed up, nothing else would cross their mind.(we all know how bad the drug problem is) RIP sir my prayers r w the family no matter what happened!!

I don't believe malicious acts came about. Ignorance or just not qualified to do the job. The reason it's MIKE'S fault is because even though he wasn't qualified to dot the job he wanted to try.People in greenup voted him in and the BUCK stops with him. Once someone is brought to his jail Mike is responsible for them. He was alive when he was put in jail after that mike is responsible for his jailers actions or lack of, he is responsible for the inmates. In just a few months we ave had one inmate escape, and one unfortunately dead. Whats it going to take for the people to realize they made a HUGE mistake by putting MIKE in office. This isn't a show like old fashion days is. This is real life and in real life you have consequences. He needs to resign immediately before anything else happens. He certainly doesn't have the skills to run a jail.

UpDate dont print something before you know the facts.Any idiot should know you can't get an autopsy that fast.UPDATE 8/9/11 @ 3:26 p.m.
GREENUP COUNTY, Ky.(WSAZ)-- Pending autopsy results, Kentucky State Police say they do not suspect foul play in the death of an inmate at the Greenup County Detention Center.

Rodney Salyers, 44, of Russell, was found dead in his cell early Saturday morning.
Click here to find out more!

Officials at the Detention Center said Salyers was booked into the jail Friday night on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to produce an insurance card and expired or no registration.

The coroner said an autopsy was performed Sunday morning. Those results have not been returned to the Kentucky State Police which is investigating the death.

Coroner Neil Wright tells WSAZ.com that it will be several more weeks before autopsy results are completed and the cause of death is released.

When are people like you gonna realize that if thats the case every jailer in the country would be "not qualified for the job"! Are you people freaking NUTS?? Was this inmate beaten during his incarceration or shot? Hell people have actually been killed and beaten in jail and the jailer wasnt talked about like Mike has been! He doesnt need to resign to satisfy the damn people of the county who are pissed because he won the election! What about all the outlaws that are turned loose only to get out and do it again? Dont hear anyone bitchin about that!!

This has trned out to be an idiotic forum! Topix is nothing but gossip central for people to bad mouth and remain nameless cowards. U should really get your facts straight before u start posting on a public site. Greenup used to be a place where criminals just run wild and were aloud to do whatever they wanted, now there r rules that r followed and enforced. There are better monitering systems and money is spent wisely. Everyday people die. Mike is a good man with great ideas for our county. We have family that mike has actually helped by treating him good and holding to his word wether it be rewarding him or punishing him. Mike did exactly what he said he was gonna do and all basicly laid on our family members shoulders by what choices he made, he learnt his lesson and speaks highly of mike for what he done for him. I think mike is doing a great job and he is good for our county.

Sara, where were you with all your wisdom when Jim Womack was running the jail with no prior experience? I think you are just bashing Mike Worthington because you may have supported his opponent.
