What a great link, Thanks for putting this online! This is a link to the live online emergency scanner for The Greenup County E911 center. It also has Lawrence County, OH, Ashland city police, Boyd and Lewis County. I've also heard Healthnet Emergency medical transport helicopter from Cabell Huntigton Hosp.

10-4 for community safety
Greenup scanner brings first responders into homes
By TAMMIE HETZER-WOMACK — For The Independent
GREENUP — About seven years ago, Greg Potter fell way-too-close to crime when his family home was robbed while he and his wife, Anna Dee worked. Thieves busted in during broad daylight, ripping off thousands of dollars in jewelry, guns and electronics police never recovered.

SEGMENT DELETED

Still, Ashland Police Department Chief Rob Ratliff — whose agency isn’t broadcast on Greenup Scanner — warned listeners to never keep such emergency scanner sites up and running on their IPhones while driving or in public places. Across the Commonwealth, it’s illegal to carry police scanners in vehicles. Violators could have their cell phones confiscated, be fined up to $500 and even receive a year in jail when nabbed.
Recently, while a local police officer was shopping at Walmart, to his disbelief, he heard a police scanner running inside the store. Turns out, Ratliff detailed, a shopper was listening to the 5-0 Radio App for IPhones.
To counter, Ratliff joined Boyd County Sheriff Terry Keelin and Gate City Police Chief Mark Plummer — all members of the Regional Public Safety Communication Center’s (RPSCC) board of directors — to take steps as a group to have their law enforcement radio traffic removed from this 5-0 Radio App site.
“Allowing the site to continue to use our radio traffic makes law enforcement information readily available to the criminals in our community and only serves to complicate our response to calls for service and jeopardizes the safety of our officers,” said Ratliff in a prepared statement.
“The chief law enforcement officials from agencies in Boyd County are committed to protecting the integrity of our communication system and we will aggressively pursue any individual or organization that provides access to police communications without the expressed permission of the RPSCC board of directors.”
Potter said if any agency wanted their frequency removed, he’d be happy to do it with no complaints.

COMMENTS:

Boyd County officials may want their agencies stuff off the internet air but they can not use state or local laws to preempt Federal Law. Basically Federal Law says if it is transmitted it can be legally received. This is for all frequencies EXCEPT CELLULAR TELEPHONES.

If you are an Amateur Radio (Ham) operator you can legally possess a radio that can receive police communications in your vehicle. I can provide the KRS for this law. You must have a copy of your signed license in your possession and carry a copy of the law with you to show the inquiring officer to be on the safe side. If the officer says different, don't argue with him, wait until you go to court. Beat them there.
