I think a lot of people are missing the long term problem here. I don't think complaining about the Board Members is the answer. For that matter in my opinion, Mr Claxton did as good a job as anyone would have under the circumstances and I also agree that promoting Mr Newman to the Principle position would have been the best move for the School however, it didn't happen that way. I guess the point I'm trying to make is our children are not getting the education they need to be getting and much of that blame falls to Teachers and Parents alike.

Did they hire a permanent principal?

I am not from Wurtland but have relatives in Greenup. I participated as a parent member of principal selection at my kids school a few years ago. Site based council chooses the principal regardless of what the Superintendent says. Sounds like your SBDM has an excellent chance to screw over the good old boy system and pick someone that can lead them the way THEY want NOT the way the Superintendent wants. Sounds like your school took a screwing with the changes. Our Superintendent tried to influence our selection too. Stick to your guns and piss on what he wants. Theres a reason why the law lets the SBDM pick the principal and its checks and balances. Does he have someone in mind? What about the guy that people are mentioning that should have been promoted, does he want the job? If you parents want this guy for the job, you need to talk to your SBDM members who can hire him. Remember your SBDM can hire who THEY want and they represent YOU!

Good advice Site Based, how do we contact he committee, I think if more parents would take your advice and see that the good old boy system dont work any more and the superintendent realizes he is not God,things could change for the school and students. I dont think Mr Hughes is aware that he cannot pick the principal. So us parents need to know who is on the Site Base please post on topix if you know.

As to the comment that Mr.Claxson did the best he could under the circumstances, what were the circumstances you are referring to. He wasnt at school enough to know what was going on,so whatever circumstances happened had to be handled by the assistant principal. Id say the asst principal did an excellent job doing his job and the principals under the circumstances.

The Assistant Principal job is already posted. I was told by a teacher at the school that the previous Assistant Principal applied for his old job. However, SBDM only gets to pick actual Principal. But, it wouldn't hurt to let Mr. Hall and Mr. Hughes know your opinion.

I support Mr. Newman as the next principal at Wurtland Middle School. I hope that the SBDM does as well. Good luck, Mr. Newman.

As to looking outside the district for asst principal at WMS, the board did that already for a superintendent, look what a mess that caused. Good for Greysbranch teachers for uniting against Claxson,WMS teachers should have done this and united for Mr. Newman.

I agree. Mr. Newman deserves it. He has put in a lot of hours the last few years trying to make WMS a good place for kids to go to school. My kids like him quite a bit.

Well if you kid went to Argillite Elementary before they went to Wurtland they would be used to teachers yelling at them and making fun of them in front of other students.

hmmm this would be a really bad idea. She is a witch and does not work well with children at all. My child had her and it was one of the worst years, well close to it, Ms. Bentley was worse.

Politics and selfishness will determine the outcome of this. Just wait and see. Lots of personal agendas. What's just as bad will be all the complainers after its all over that won't say nothing right now.

Politics should have nothing to do with a choice for administrator, education and experience and love for children and whats best for them is the main issue.Do not let superintendent influence your decision for principal, this is the site base decision, they know whats best for the school.Parents and teachers also know what is best.Speak your mind now so when it is over you will know you have done your best to improve your school and your childrens safety, education.Dont let your best educators leave Wurtland.Keep Mr.Newman!!!

Well, the previous person that was principle has poisoned enough of that school. He caused clicks and let some people not have to work and let them play principle when Newman should have been in charge. I hear from my kid that he has 40 kids in his gym class and there schedule has a lady off from teaching most of the day. why cant they have smaller classes if they have teachers sitting around doin nothing. a few other teachers i dont guess like kids much. Why did they get into teaching for?
