I can honestly say that he has been deeply missed and will continue to be...We miss ya boy!!!!

It is so strange that this topic is here today. I cried almost all the way to work tonight, just thinking about Ryan. Just thinking that I am spending time with my family through the holidays, I am sure that his family would love the chance to spen one more holiday with him. I graduated with Ryan and we were friends then. Butm after HS, Ryan and I worked together and became really close. I am so glad that I got to know him better and spend time woth him. I miss him so much, but I know that he was proud that he was serving our country!

I thought a lot of Ryan & Bryan. They were around a lot when they were young & lived in town.God bless all the family.
I've also lost a child, not in service but death is final whatever the reason,I do know the hurt & the empty spot that will always be in your heart.
I'm proud of all the soldiers,& pray for them daily.
May God keep them safe & bring them home.I also give thanks to each one that has given their life so we can be free today.RIP
My prayers are with all that have lost a child.God help all of us deal with it & be of help to others .

well i knew ryan i and still see bryan around every once in a while. i grew up with them both and i always thought of them as my younger brothers. ryan and bryan were in the same unit i am in right now. shortly after bryan got out i was sent over seas to bin ladens back yard for a year. and i will say that what you see in a war zone sticks with you for the rest of your life. but before i left bryan heard that i was being deployed and he told me to be safe and come home in one piece. and i remember making him that promise, even though i didn't know if i was going to be able to keep it. but here i am back home safe. but during that year i seen several us troops lose there lifes counting a real good friend of mine.

The family get togethers was one of the things he loved the most. 4th of July was one of his favorites. Look out everybody!! LOL! He was the one who always said grace before each meal at every holiday!! Ryan I will always love you and miss ya!!! A part of my life will always be gone without you! Forever in my heart!! Thank you all for your kind words, Believe me it is an everyday struggle to go on without him there is not a moment in the day that goes by that he is not on my mind or in my heart. Please keep me in your prayers as the holidays are coming and it is even more of a struggle then. Ryan is a great son and always had a smile on his face, one of his things were if he could make someone laugh that was down it would make his day too. He is my son and my hero and I love him with all my heart and soul. He and Bryan are heros, it is hard on Bry to go on without his best friend his twin brother. He is like me he sometimes has good days but somedays are very bad. Thank you all for all the kind words and remembering him, this is what helps me through my very hard days.

Your son answered the call of the nation, regardless what peoples opinion of the war is, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Green County may never be the target of any of the attacks of which he was trying to defend, but I feel/hope a lot of people realize what I think his sacrifice meant.

He showed us that a hero can come from anywhere, at any age, under any circumstance and make a difference. He went 1/2 way around the world to stop evil at it's source in hopes of preserving a freedom that was given to us so long ago that we forget the countless sacrifices of the countless families forever affected.

I never knew him, never met him and never saw him until his obituary was in our paper. The following weekend I found an old bulletin from church that had his name in it as an active servicemen in a special section we have on our prayer list. The next weekend his family's name was in our bulletin for a much sadder reason. I looked in my yearbook and found their pictures in the fourth or fifth grade. He looked like every other child you see in Green County. Young, happy, full of life and apparently full of potential.

Back then I worked in Louisville and hung his button up outside my cube wall and spoke of him vaguely, but proud. At the time there had been no casualties from the Louisville area (that i was aware) and when they asked who he was I always said "Ryan Montgomery. A kid from my town that gave his life for me". I never could explain it gracefully, but I wanted people to know his name. They always seemed a little surprised that something like that could happen at such a small town. But big people come from small towns too.

I hope other kids realize his dreams of a better world and see that the small town boy literally went out into the world to make a difference. I know you miss him and are proud of him. Thank you for raising such wonderful kids. I hope I can do the same with mine. Your family will be forever affected by the loss of Ryan, but know there are people who are forever grateful to him and his brother. God Bless you all!

I thank all of those who serve our country and that have died serving it. I have a step-son and brother in law that will be leaving at the first of the year to serve overseas. God bless them all!! They are heros.
